I agree on the one side metallic pads, they are way to harsh for street driving. We put a three finger all ceramic disc in the drag car and engagement was way to harsh just staging and doing burn out and staging hops.
We just weighted Tripod Saturday and with my 220 lbs aboard it weighed 2080 lbs. I guess putting on lighter than stock parts helped pay for the Madstad's extra weight.

Being new here I have to ask, does the clutch wear out faster than on a regular car and standard trans? (I thought this was a standard trans and clutch). I am not trying to be a smart.... just curious. I have driven standards all my life and never thought to worry about down shifting... Interesting thread...
In short, the tranny aside from the angle drive is rock solid, regarding the"crying wolf" in this thread if you spend any decent amount of time or read old threads you will soon realize that there is someone who likes to pretend to be drowning in a 2 inch deep puddle of water.
Let's see, our nearly 20 year old Jetta pushing 400,000 miles in which we use to tow a 1500 pound camp trailer still has the original clutch and maybe has had one brake change, so when a vehicle is driven conscientiously your reasoning lacks merit, Bigdog.

LUK makes the clutches for the Slingshot. See pics below. I did not see any Exedy or Sachs markings on any of the parts.
Exedy makes a good portion of the clutch discs out there generally speaking. They will either private label them for companies or companies will buy the center section and change the friction surface material and rebrand it as theirs.
Sachs provides a lot of pressure plates to OEM companies. They also do similar private labeling for companies or companies will buy the pressure plate and disassemble them and either shim parts or alter the fingers to make them have a higher clamp load.
