And I was being nice , I could have taken all but that was not how my Momma raised me. Remember you owe me a drink at ES anyway.....

It's the wind with the rain, the shallow root systems locally, and poor drainage due to clay based soil. Lots of standing water on the roads when it rains hard. Potential for ling loss of power. Not so worried about flooding, really.
I hope so Bro - you just can’t ever predict what a Cat 4 or 5 path of destruction will be. As mentioned earlier Camille hit east of New Orleans and cut a swath all the way thru Virginia causing whole valleys to flood. I know cause my aunt lived in Waynesboro, VA and they lost everything. All I’m sayin is you just never know what one of these major storms are going to bring far inland with it where you thought you would be safe. BE SAFE AND PREPARE NOW EVERYONE!!
Just for perspective Holly Beach is a small community about 25 miles from me on the Gulf. Here is before and after Hurricane Rita
@Bill Martin, don't get me wrong, I'm not being cavalier. Keeping a close eye on it. It's just that historically the really high winds don't make it here, 150 miles inland. But we're watching.
@Boomer, generator gassed up and ready to go.
that isn't true - I was behind you in line .... I just filled my pockets with what you didn't want/take
That want my little brother did at coffee after church on Sunday Mornings'''
Keeping a close eye on this one @Bill Martin. I have a plan to get out if needed. Bug out bag with food, water and supplies is packed. Putting my Slingshot in my trailer Monday evening. If it looks like we are getting hit with a CAT 3 or higher I will be heading west to Clarksville, Va. with my Slingshot in tow.

Yes Sir EJ. Have to keep my priorities in order.
You thing Mitch is going to protect you?
No. I will hang out at the Magnuson. I went thru Hugo in Charleston, SC. Never again will I make that mistake.
stay safe sir
Thank you Ross
Just for the record I got xtra bedrooms - fine Kentucky bourbon and cigars to any of you guys that get displaced by this storm if it hits. I need to pay it forward - @Spudinator put me and my bride up (in quite high fashion I might add) last year when we couldn’t get home due to Hurricane Harvey . Come on down - I’ll cook up a big seafood gumbo
Display MoreTo any of the Slingshot family if you live anywhere along the east coast:
COME UP WITH YOUR PLAN TODAY !!!!
I hope Florence turns north into open water still but tracking doesn’t appear so. Guys lemme tell you a Cat 4 ain’t no joke. I been thru 2 - Rita and Ike. For Ike, where my house is now, my property is bout 30 miles from the Gulf as the crow flies - it was under 3 feet of water and you could take a boat from there straight out into the ocean. For Rita - Oak trees bigger than you can get your arms around were snapped like twigs probably by the dozens of tornados that came in with the storm surge.
I don’t intend to panic anyone - just if you live within 50 miles from the coast and your going to be a direct hit (especially if your on the bad side of the storm) - have a plan to get the hell out!!! This storm can kill you!! Be safe my brothers !!
How do you think I feel right about now? Relief that Florida appears to be safe from the hurricane, but we're flying back East Wednesday for my wife's Aunt's funeral. Flying right over the hurricane and a change of planes in Baltimore. This could be one week I'll never forget.

You will be ok on Wednesday. Not expected to make landfall until late in evening

You could always ride something else during your rehab and I'm not talking about a three wheeled thing
