Drove to charleston at 6 am this morning. People were already in line to get into the state forest locations. Driving back South again in a few minutes (about 40 miles) to get in the center of the path. I will be on Hwy. 41 at Cainhoy turn off in the middle of the Francis Marion National Forest, there was no traffic just a few minutes ago.
Solar Eclipse

-
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon. -

I'm on the roof of our building. It should start pretty soon here. Don't really care that much about it but work is letting us watch so I'm in!

I don't know what the fuss is all about.
-
It doesn't look it, but that's a 100% eclipse, and it was dark as hell.
-
Cloudy and rain all around us but still got to see just about all of the eclipse. If we had stayed at home we would not have seen any of it.
-
I don't need no stinkin' glasses....
-
My daughter had an old welding helmet we used to look at the eclipse. Here in Houston, all you could see was a crescent about 1/3 the Sun's normal size.

Below is the best picture I could manage in the Charlotte area. Didn't get as dark as I expected.
@Cameron Roberts - I noticed as well the shadows on the sidewalk. Kinda different and interesting.
-
@Live-a-Little! those little crescents are actually the sun. It gets captured in little holes between leaves that act like pin hole cameras.

Got to sit out on my front lawn with a cold one and watch something that want come by my place in my lifetime. Was worth the time with my son who officially moves out on his own next week. Moments in time that are priceless.

Did you see the total eclipse?
