let’s be very clear....if I count the screwing I got from the company and the screwing I got from the international (union) it’s probably even...
the company never gave part of my union dues to the Democratic Party or told me to vote democrat. And now we can see where that got everyone...
but in all fairness.....I’ve been collecting my pension for 16 years. Our union negotiated a 30 and out benefit. So I retired at 51....the company had to agree to that....
But there are rumors that I could lose my healthcare in upcoming negotiations.
with all that said I could kiss my company owner and the union president on the lips in gratitude...
Display MoreSo - a fun question
is helping corporations get through these times more or less important than helping unions during these times?
It seems to me that corporations are much more important than unions - Corporations provide jobs and without the survival of the corporation those jobs would be gone. Unions might improve the quality of the jobs, but if the corporation fails the union is pointless
So what say you - during these times of corona virus - corporations or unions, if only one could get government aid which would you choose and why?
government union employees need not reply
I was drafted into the NEA while teaching in CA.
No union card, no job.
They took over $25,000 from me personally... and spent most of it to help radical socialists get elected. These people are so terrible that I wouldn't deign to pee on them if they were on fire.
Display Moreyou’re making it sound like unions are causing companies to go bankrupt. Does that count all of the millions of dollars in upper management bonuses and retirement packages...
once during our contract negotiations when the owner wanted us to take contract concessions (because of hard times) I read in the newspaper that he just donated $5 million dollars to the Pittsburgh symphony....You’re giving $5 million to the symphony and want me to give up some of my money?
you don’t think workers should get fair wages and benefits? There should be no worker rights? You want workers to be company slaves...
without unions most companies would deny benefits and overtime pay, eliminate seniority and healthcare and retirement plans....so you will be happy using a major portion of your small hourly wage to purchase and invest in all those things. You make it sound like it’s good verse evil. Unions negotiate with companies...not the government...so companies aren’t giving up more than they can afford. What percentage of profits is considered enough at the expense of the workers?.. where does corporate greed start and stop? Unions don’t want all the profits...just a portion of what the workers made possible.
Your solution is send all the jobs to China...verses paying Americans a decent wage? You just witnessed what that has created that is not good for our country. That was pure corporate greed that created that problem. Companies not wanting or caring about American workers or their families or the damage they caused to our country....
So yes if a company wants to screw American workers by having the Chinese do the job...it’s a choice they made ...so they should pay the price....because now you’re ok with giving them part of your wages (in the form of income tax) to reward them for their corporate greed. I’m not ok with that and never will be.
OH MY GOD!!! - - are you really this stupid!!!
it was a simple question - if the government can only save one which one would you choose???
no one said unions were bad, no one said they didnt have value - it is a simple A or B question nothing more!
come on Bigdog - - are you just acting?, pretending you cant even read just to get under my skin? - - - God I pray this is the case!!!
who wants to bail out unions?
Why is there a choice to be made. Who has to decide that?
all of these companies that went overseas made a choice between making good quality products with American workers or cheap quality with Chinese workers and to get bigger bonuses .
The new CEO of Boeing is going to get a $7 million bonus to get the MAX flying again..so go ahead and tell me every decision he makes isn’t going to be based on getting that bonus over everything else?
I don’t fully understand what your question about saving a union or saving a company...who says one has to live and one has to die? Based on what? Because workers are tired of being screwed? Because they want paid healthcare or a pension?
I don’t want any of my tax money saving any American company that moved to China to save a nickel...PERIOD. They screwed American workers. Even if they have American workers now....how many more could they have if they didn’t have operations in China....and it doesn’t matter if they have a union or not....they should be penalized for hurting America For the sake of a CEOs bonus And multi million dollars wage/compensation package.
They made a clear choice....keep Americans working or make the stock holders happy.
and even now in the new bail out plan after one year companies can buy back stock. so with that in mind are they going to give every one of their worker all the money they could? I highly doubt it.... especially if there are hidden loopholes in the deal.... you have to pass it to know what’s in it...
Corporate greed is still dictating how companies treat their employees. And if they can screw them by keeping wages low, limiting vacation time, cutting healthcare and pension contributions they will.....that leaves employees with a choice of being in a union or not. Why do CEOs need multi million dollar bonuses? Happy employees makes a happy company...
I know how we reacted to the company always wanting concessions....always wanting us to give up more and more...and we had a union.....while they still made millions in profits ....understand the word profit...that’s after all the bills are paid....after our wages and vacations and pensions and healthcare....
Wow!!
I guess you really are that dense - cant even answer a simple question
everything you have posted in this thread has nothing to do with the question - - and like the ever ready rabbit you just keep going - - - right off the cliff of ignorance
To everyone else - I would still love to hear your answers - please just ignore bigdog - he can't help it - its just the way he is. When he is not out licking windows he is our friend
unions aren’t killing companies.....if the company is willing to be fair to its workers....
a poor man never signed my paycheck....I get it...companies need to be profitable to survive.
there is a difference between surviving and making a killing on someone else’s back.
just as the workers aren’t trying to be greedy...CEOS shouldn’t be greedy either... most are already rich beyond the sum total of all their workers worth combined....how many millions does one person need? I’m not talking about socialism....I’m just talking about sharing a fair portion of the pie...with the actual workers that made it all possible...
first off it’s not even a real question it’s hypothetical. It’s never going to happen. So who’s flipping out over it?
If companies were fair...unions wouldn’t be needed ...so who really has control of that?
The majority of companies will never be fair. So they have and are creating the need for unions.
The real question should be .....should we bailout any company with chinese workers....in China.
I say never in a million years. It trump want to use his personal money or Pelosi wants to use hers go ahead.....but not with public taxpayer money.

that gives me an idea for my own window cleaning company...and I’ll need a union card
then you have government employee unions that are needed to protect the government employees from - - - - - - - ???????
Since this one isn't off limits to government union workers. Management and workers are in two separate unions.

Pretty sure Bigdog answered "Unions" and spoke quite extensively as to why. Maybe somebody other than him has problems comprehending.

actually he made it clear he would not work for an employer without a union to represent its employees - and yes he did give his reasons why, but he never did answer the question as to which should get government aid if it meant the death of the one that didnt get that aid - - - also I am pretty sure I also said "government union employees need not reply" - - - - - - comprehension????

I never replied to your question. Comprehension isn't somebody's strong suit.

No - just like bigdog - you replied with an off topic non answer - - in fact thats one thing that I have noticed about both of you - you both love to respond to questions with off topic non answers and/or comments and then when pushed you both obstreperously continue down the same path you started on.
any chance you two are related?

I replied to an aspect of the conversation, not your question that I was not asked to answer.
Thank you for acknowledging your lack of comprehension by admitting that as you requested, I didn't attempt to answer your question("you replied with an off topic non answer") which is in direct opposition to your, "also I am pretty sure I also said "government union employees need not reply" - - - - - - comprehension????".
We can write and read all manner of things for you, we can't help you comprehend them.
yeah 25 million for the Kennedy Center. Thank you Democrats
