Today in Tampa..Fl
Anyone know about this?
-
-
No but that sucks. The SUV is flipped and the sling looks pretty okay.
-
That may just be the slings hood at the lower right of the photo. Expand the pix and you can see the slings motor.
-
Looks like the sling won that battle
Hope everyone was OK -
Dang ... that's sad to see. Hope all survived. I do see possible fluid under the SS as well - forceful impact but SS looks almost okay minus the hood.
-
I certainly hope all are ok.
Even the fast red one couldn't get out of the way... Add a supercharger to make sure you can!
See it is all about safety.
-
That's what happens when you mess with a Slingshot!! Looks like the Sling didn't go down without a fight and kicked some major butt!!! Sincerely hope nobody was injured in any of the vehicles tho!!!
-
S Armenia Ave is a through street with stop signs on both sides of Horatio St.
If everyone is facing the direction of travel it appears the SUV may have been leaving the community to the right of the map and blown the stop sign at a high rate of speed using the hood of the Slingshot as a flip ramp ?

Huh?
-
Sounds like a terrible wreck....and a testimonial for a top.
-
Man what a wreck......she was lucky.
-
This might make me rethink the top that I want.
-
Stories like this make me wish I didn't get rid of my Top. Glad everyone is relatively OK!
-
.
REALLY glad she is OK but reality check people ...
Thin wall aluminum tubing bolted to your mirror mounts is not going to stop another vehicle .....
Doesn't seem as though the SUV made it to the passenger compartment, the windshield and top frame look to be untouched ....

Bob and I both use sch. 40 aluminum tubing, nothing thin wall about that, the mirror mounts are also attached using M12 bolts with a shear strength combined outweighing that entire SUV. I agree it doesn't look the like car made it to the roof but that top would most definitely deflect the weight of that car in this instance. Considerably better odds than without it.
-
And that's a fact Jack!

An unfortunate circumstance, glad she's safe, regardless of how rigid any roof is, something is always better than nothing

Having experience with chassis manufacture and certification I would urge you as a manufacturer of these products to reconsider making such statements and clarify that it is not designed as or intended to be a safety device..

I'm no idiot, it seems every roof manufacturer has copied my disclaimer that I have sent out with every roof I've made since #1, merely stating that it's better than nothing, and can be quite rigid in certain instances
