AC working full blast today in Northern Indiana -5 Degrees this am

What part of the country are you located in....
-
Awesome. I like it cold. But 39 is a bit cool.
That little area that is on my left side near my belt line is what gets cold. My shirt or hoodie always pulls up when I sit down in the seat... it exposes that area to the wind....

Got up Thursday morning to drive 100+ miles to my dealer in Lufkin, TX for my 30K mile service. I wasn't too thrilled when I checked the weather report and saw temps forecast around 39-44F. Since I had removed my TD Top a few weeks ago before I decided to wait until after Xmas to install my turbo, I wore a full helmet (I don't normally wear a helmet with the Top on the Slingshot) and it kept my face and ears comfortable. I also wore some insulated overalls I bought for winter riding when we still lived in Virginia and they and my Cortech motorcycle jacket kept my body warm. I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed the ride even with the relatively low temps for this part of Texas.

Last couple days this week, I drove the Sling to work. Thursday AM was the coldest, 34 degrees. I'd have to look at a chart to see what an 80 mph breeze does for wind chill, but it was nippy. I have recently found a decent outfit that works - I have been wearing 2 layers on bottom, just standard long johns with thick jeans. On top, it's been a cotton tshirt, then a base layer of silk long johns, then a merino wool sweater, then a heavy sweatshirt, then on top is a windproof fleece. But the key is a thick neck gaiter that I tuck down into my sweatshirt and pull up over my ears and chin. When I put on the full face helmet and gauntlets, there is literally nowhere for the air to get to exposed skin. And with a plug-in seat pad, I can almost imagine I'm warm!

Are you serious? I don't like being one-upped. I'm certified as kinda-sorta functional down to 7 degrees on a 6 hour ride. No electrics, no gel packs. Just balls, brain damage and some anti-freeze in the veins.
Maybe winter will be kind this year, and I can get some sub-zero temps to display my bona-fides, though we rarely dip below 0. Climate change may be my friend in this regard.
Does the sling dash display below zero?
-
Rode 2 wheels many years every day unless it was icy. But I refused to get a car or truck. Same thing since I gave up two wheels and got the Slingshot. I guess it's just something we all get in our blood. However, I believe an electric heater and a 200 mile long extension cord would be a good thing.

No I did not have the Slingshot out a -5 --- 20 degrees is OK anything less NO.

We rode in 21 Degrees last weekend. Yep, dumb as hell!!!! But you only live once. Why not live it to the fullest and tell your kids about it when they get older. Will they think you are cool?? Of course not!!! But, at least you have one hell of a story to tell!!!!

Sunday am Northern Indiana "0" and 6 more inches of snow...
-
With the truck being down waiting on a rebuild I have been and will be riding to work till after the first. Have seen the twenties and will see the teens this next week. Heated seats, jacket liner, and gloves with full face helmet. After about 5 minutes and I actually have to turn everything down to low or I start to sweat. As long as it stays dry I shall continue.

I meant more the rapid swing in temps. If it's gonna be cold, stay cold.
It's kinda like, if you're an asshole boss, as long as you're consistent, I'm cool with that and I can deal with you. But if you're inconsistent....damn, I hate that!
Sorry, squirrel brained venting there for a sec...back to your regularly scheduled program, you crazies.

Random note: December 18th in SE VA, and we have all the windows open, airing out the house. Almost 70 degrees, on its way to 75 today!

Doesn't look like a great day to ride here ☹️️
