So I tried the search function and didn't have any luck. I am looking for opinions/reviews on navigation units. I already have Sena 20 headsets, (yeah I know, but it's my choice to wear a helmet most of the time) so I am looking for something compatable. Thanks in advance.
Navigation Question

have you decided which brand to go for like pioneer or kenwood ? Do you have price range in mind ? most of the double din do require minor to major dash modification.
E.g. i just insatlled avh 4100 nex with weather proof double din cover , i was not able see anything in day time until i applied screen protector and now i can see somewhat ... the installation require modification to the entire inner dash and outter dash !!

I was actually planning on a separate unit (Garmin, Tomtom, etc.) Mounted on the center windshield post

Download Waze on your phone - it is free it is user based so you know where the cops are and it is great at getting around traffic.
-
I was leaning toward a more motorcycle specific unit. I think they help with finding the twisties and other fun stuff.

I installed the Garmin Zumo 665 to the center post. I use the XM radio with my Bell Sena helmet and it is OK. I am old school and a little confused with the manuals, but now that warm weather is here I use a shorty helmet and would like to know how or if I can sync XM feature with factory radio. It seems like the MP3 feature does. Any advice would be appreciated. (Hint, I just upgraded from a flip phone.)

I use my SiriusXM radio right thru the radio. By a FM Direct Adapter for Sattellite Radio. Simple to install. Once installed you play you XM thru radio on 88.1... Works great.

I second Waze on your phone. Avoid the social media aspect of it and it's one of the best. FYI Google maps gets their real time navigation data from Waze.
Apart from that no idea on a stand alone unit.

When my state let's me register a ss, I plan to use Waze on my phone. I use it every day in my car no matter were I go. Even reports pot holes coming up.

I agree with my husband chefjohn who had me use it. Easy, accurate and FREE. It warns you of cops, objects, traffic, etc. Other users update which problem or alert is approaching, gives you the option to update as you approach for others to know if still an issue or not. Give alternate directions if traffic to avoid. John is on the road daily between RI and MA and loves it. Don't use Garmin any more!

According to others, the Garmin Zumo 660 and the 665 both are compatable with the factory sound system with a little work and the proper adapter for a victory motorcycle.
There was a thread on the dark side with the info.
Here is the write up a guy did on the install for each.
Can't confirm it, just passing on what I've read. -
I've been using my old Nuvi in the slingshot and my jeep. Got caught in the rain so I shoved it in the glove box. Any GPS will work, unfortunately the motorcycle models are three or four times the price of a refurbished auto one.

I use a Garmin ZUMO 660 LM and use this to integrate. I use this headset with all together.

Thank you @mytoy. I was looking for pictures of that to post with the instruction pages.

You just plug it into socket "B" back of INFO System, and set it up according to manual from slingshot.

For someone using a regular car GPS I used this Aqua Box before my Garmin Zumo 660

Fabricated this mount for my garmin today.
It folds back in when not in use. -
I guess I am cheap. I have an android phone with 6" screen and use Co-Pilot as my navigation software. I have a Shuberth helmet with BT and it integrates with the phone and the SL entertainment system. Gets me where I want to go. And the software is FREE unless you want voice capability which I paid $3 or less for from the app store. Don't use it much but I also don't use my helmet much.

I like a stand alone GPS, there are still places that have no cell coverage.
-
Like I said I am cheap. I use the offline maps feature.
