Stephen, you're still up after Robert suggested you get some sleep? I hope if you're going to stay up all night n Biloxi, you make enough money for the rest of the trip
-
Thanks @BryanL. It looks like I will need number 17 from that picture. My bushing should be fine. Does the bearing come with a hole in the center?
Stephen
That's were the tricky part comes. If you don't get the diameter exactly right, you'll have to start all over
-
The bearing will have the center hole with grove for grease.
-
This is the pulls/sprocket bearing p/n.
-
Yeah, the hole for the grease is there. I misunderstood what hole you meant and I was being a smart ass
-
Bearing ordered. I will work on this after Thunder Beach next week. I don't want to screw anything up and p[revent me from getting out there.

And that's the part I just don't understand??? If the hole is already in the bearing why didn't Polaris do this to start with?

Polaris engineering flow chart...

Yeah, it would have been so easy if they would have installed the zerk from the get go. But look at it this way, you get to get up close and personal with your SS. It's really not that hard of a job in the long run, and you get a little piece of mind. At least that's the way I hope it works out, lol

It's as simple as Red Forman (Your A Dumbass) POLARIS!!!!

I lightly coated the axle shaft, but I didn't want to get too much in there to foul up the sensor. Murphy's law you know! I didn't remove the bearing on the opposite side either, the way the needle bearing self destructed I didn't want the same to happen to that one. I probably would have been OK, but I didn't have a replacement handy. Good luck!
-
No I didn't apply any grease on the spacer or axle.
-
The only reason I put any coating of grease on mine is, I used to have a Victory Touring Cruiser Deluxe and had to change the rear axle bearings. The axle shaft was really rusted. Different axle, of course, but it wasn't sealed any better than the SS.
Maybe I expect to much, but you'd think there'd be some seals of some kind. -
