Happy birthday Rab.
Well heck, Happy Birthday Rab!!!
5/16/72 happens every time I go off with you guys.
promise it wasnt me!
Thanks WOLF. Wish you could have been here.
You and me both my friend.
like I said, I'll start a full thread about the top soon. Bouncing ideas and taking in suggestions from a great group.
(1) In short it's a light weight (Under 35lbs total)
(2) patent pending forward title removable design
(3) has quick release canopy top system
(4) has quick release front mounting brackets
Top is easily removed and can be easily stored in your garage or hotel room when not being used.
The most important part will be the cost that will be well south of anything else on the market.
I still have final development work and hope to be able to bring it to market. I can tell you that it want be within the 6 months... but will try to do my best to get it to market for those that are interested.
Here are a few pics showing the function (entry / exit title forward design)
Quick release top removed
Quick release (back to stock look) mounting brackets removed.
More to follow ... maybe even a quick demonstration video.
@Ruptured Duck you have had attorney/client privilege up to now with the pictures you shared with me months ago. I like even more now but quick question- looks like low head room for a big guy! Is that just an optical illusion???
This is and has been a concern from the beginning. The shape of the cover allows for 6'4" with helmet to clear . It has additional adjustment up for a little more clearance if need but this top may not be the best choice for anyone over 6' 4". Part of the discussion today centered around this aspect and very good feedback provided. It may be that a second version (different part number) that has taller mounting brackets to lift the top higher can be offered but will need to be tested to he same level as this one. I can foresee less attractive aspects and will need to justify cost to plausible sales. I have tried hard to meet the 95% height requirement.
Please remember that all top designs will have limitations. In this case I have tried to design something a little different that has a more traditional soft top look with similar low cost and ease of operation. For those needing a taller top there are other options in the market.
This is the third canopy and one more will be needed for final design-profile confirmation. The biggest change will be to the front for increase visibility.
Back to the North GA ride thread...

Kuddos @Ruptured Duck for what looks to be a very worthy contender to the category of Sling Tops!!!!! Do you have a product name for this yet? My wife has been talking about a possible top for us, but she wants something that can be removed easily when not needed and the retain the stock look of our Sling. This may very well fit the bill. I'm 6' and she's 5' 11" so we are in the sweet spot for height. I'll be watching for your official unveiling!!! Again.....awesome work, congrats and best wishes for what promises to be a great product for the Sling Community!!!
@Ruptured Duck You may be the one that knocks me into the roof crowd. I know my wife has wanted one. I will continue to keep my eye on your progress. I like that side profile and what appears to be a very easy removal. I could put it on for the wife and be "stock" as soon as she's done riding.
here are we are ready to hit the skyway....
