And at my house it was go get the belt before it was used....
The perp walk. I remember it well. The worst hour of my life was my brother and I sitting in Grandma's basement waiting for Dad to come down and beat our asses for shooting .22 rimfire rounds that we stole from a desk in said basement, and were shooting out of a .38 revolver stolen by the neighbor kid from his parents. Every once in a while we got one to go off. Dad told us to wait for our beating because he was so mad he thought he'd kill us. Absolutely horrifying. When he came down an hour later he delivered what I would call a mild spanking. The lesson had already been learned.
-
Yep I felt that belt several times. Just the prospect of a whipping kept me straight. At school it was a paddle and then a whipping when I got home because the school called my parents informing them what I done and that I was paddled. Don't take many of those and you learn how to act right. A lot more of that would help the kids today.

As a school teacher I used the sit and wait... Works better than the paddle.
-
Sit and wait for what? If it was sit and wait for the principal to show up with the paddle that was very effective. Could give you some time to think about what you did and if it was worth it.

A weeping willow and the switches thereof was my mother’s weapon of choice. She made me dance many times with one of those. I thought I was smart when I got a little older so I got some gas and poisoned it. Unfortunately for me my dad checked it out when it started dying and he smelled gas in the soil around the tree. It was then i graduated from the switch to the belt. Jeez how I prayed that willow tree would come back - no luck - my momma bitched about that tree for the next 40 years. That’s proof women hold grudges FOREVER
-
Yep, I had to go out and cut my own switches and they best be good ones.

To hell with all this .. I am going fishing....

My older brother and I were less than a year apart, so we were very competitive. Sometimes that competitiveness would set-off my dad. The rule my dad set was I'm going to tell you once after that the belt came off. Strategic placement was critical. If I had the advantage to the stairs I would hold and instigate till the belt came out then do a slow jaunt upstairs with my brother in tow getting the wrath while I laughed my nads off. Memories

Tree fell on the fence at one of the properties - figured why not make the best of it while I negotiate repairs!
