After 2 months of my beloved SS being in the shop getting forged pistons and forged connecting rods, I finally got my sling back..all was well for a couple of days and I noticed that at idle the engine was running at an unusually high RPM (between 1500 - 2000 RPM). The next day the engine sounded as if there were marbles in the engine. Ended up having it towed back to the shop. They are saying it is the connecting rod bearing in cylinder 1 that has gone bad. So now I wait again! Has anyone had their connecting rod bearings go bad?

@jaytee If you don't mind my asking, who's doing your engine work? Is this something they're covering?
a local shop did the engine build...not covered but fixing bearing at a reduced rate.

@jaytee
I have been running a DDM forged motor for about a year. Without any major issues.
Motor runs like a scolded cat.
I can tell you for sure anytime I have the slightest issue @Dave@DDMWorks steps up and does the right thing. -

@jaytee brother...I am so sorry your having so many issues... this will be your 3rd engine. this sucks!!!!!
oh no..im hoping it's just the bearings!

Best of luck with this one
you know what they say 3rd times the charm....... -
Did it spin and tear up the rod and crank? Or can they clean it up and put a new bearing set from GM in it. I am a believer in GM bearings. I know there are a couple other suppliers. Just use the GM parts ....

Ok. Sorry your having trouble. I know it's frustrating. I have been down and out before. It is good that your shop is working with you.
Post pictures and updates here. We can learn a lot from pictures if they will let you take a bunch of them. -
Curious to know what their assessment will be regarding the rod bearing. Please keep us updated. Useful information for those wanting to venture into the Built engine realm.
