  • Without qualified immunity cops have no authority to even stop and talk with someone about a crime. When a cop stops a vehicle, they are seizing your 4th amendment rights, your right to move freely down a public highway, shall I continue Slingblade

All cops would be plan citizens with a badge and gun without Q I. There is no such thing as citizens arrest, it would be called kidnapping or unlawful detainment. Do you have a clue yet Slingblade

Good stuff, looking beyond what's on the surface.

  • I can tell you from experience - what some people think is right is not necessarily the letter of the law. As Shatneyman has indicated he is 100% correct but the average Joe just boils it down to “cops can’t be sued”. I have a question for you Slingblade - you obviously have a problem with law enforcement. In a perfect world - what would be your solution be to violent felons victimizing innocent civilians?? Inquiring minds want to know ??

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • Party is over folks, apparently slingblade left. Don't feel bad slingblade, I destroyed the states attorney here a few months ago in front of the whole legislative body. I called him clueless and knew nothing after stating facts that he could not rebut; well he resigned and is done.:00008356:

See there - just a flip of the coin you coulda been a lawyer instead of the law - you woulda been good on the dark side :00008172:

  • Good Lord there is so much wrong with this! If you have enough time to look up and tell someone not to film you perhaps what you’re doing isn’t needed or justified. What? Nobody had a taser? Needless to say I wasn’t there but yeah, this looks really bad.

We’ll get there when we get there and not a minute before. 😎

  • Refusal to follow a lawful order is called insubordination - - - and it can get a military person in deep trouble

I really don't even understand why anyone would question this - - does anyone actually believe that in the military you get to pick and choose which orders you want to follow??I do

I do believe there was a rather good movie about a Conscientious objector.

Don’t mistake a pause by me as a victory for you. When I choose to call it a night and go to bed over staying up to make some snowflakes squirm a little, that isn’t resigning to you being right.

  • The FBI conducted the raid on Trump's residents and some were carrying rifles. The Secret Service we're armed inside. The warrant was authorized on Friday and held until Monday.

The whole thing was staged for the media to use against Trump.

A raid on Friday cuts the story short, Monday is the start of the news cycle.

The rifles were to make it look more serious, were they really going to shoot it out with the Secret Service detail?

    Political theater at its finest.

Bye bye little guy, go change your depends and eat some liquefied food. You're not worth my time. I gave you facts and you being the person you are, will never except it. Talking to you is like teaching a snake to sit. As far as the video of the cops assaulting someone, they should be charged. No reasoning or excuse

  • Good stuff, looking beyond what's on the surface.

Do you all realize qualified immunity is a fairly recent concept? Police, and other government personnel, hired on and were able to perform their job just fine before it. They just weren’t as free to abuse their power or get by with incompetence. That’s not to say the abuse and incompetence didn’t happen before. When uncovered, they had less protection.

So, do you think they should be protected from lawsuits though? Like you or me would be open to?🤷‍♂️

I guess 40 years isn't a long time to some people.

  • Here is some interesting reading for those that believe qualified immunity has no problems.

    https://ij.org/issues/project-…nding-qualified-immunity/

we live in a world where people would file a law suit if they got pinched by the handcuffs

police simply by the nature of the job would be buried in never ending law suits if there were not any protections

Right now you complain about the quality of some of the police that we have, and I agree that there are some bad apples, but if you eliminate qualified immunity its not going to get better - - its going to get worse - good people wont want to be cops, they wont want the risk of never ending law suits and the wont want to subject their families to the added stress of knowing you will be taken to court for absolutely anything that causes the slightest scratch on anyone

Please think about this - did you know a Dr who delivers babies is subject to liability until the last child they deliver reaches age 18? did you know that in order to be protected they have to maintain liability insurance for 18 year after they retire because of this? - - so now tell me if a cop has to maintain their own liability insurance how long after retirement will they need to keep that insurance just incase some one with a past injury decides to litigate?

and most importantly how much to you think a police officers pay will need to be increased in order to cover these insurance costs??

I know you NEVER actually answer questions but please think about it - - what would a police force cost the tax payers if every cop had to buy liability insurance? - - The tax payers are going to pay this cost - - a cop that you might now get for 60k a year is going to need - what 100k? - not only has to cover this years liability insurance, but also has to cover insurance for after he leaves the job - as high risk as police work is insurance could cost even more than the base pay!

do you really think we can sustain police forces where every officer is paid the same as a medical specialist?

this is the point of qualified immunity I think you are overlooking - by having qualified immunity the government can drastically reduce the cost of maintaining a police force, they can hire police officers for a much lower wage and drastically lower the costs to the tax payer. If every cop needs to maintain their own liability insurance they are not just going to take a pay cut so they can buy it - - they are going to have to be paid enough more to cover it and the tax payers - you and I - are going to pay for it
