yep - - that's politics, when it was Trump that would get credit because it was him and his administration that that basically made the Pfizer vaccine possible the left was totally against it
and now that Trump isn't in a posistion to benefit anymore now the left is totally for it.
fact is the Pfizer vaccine, Trumps vaccine, has been used on 100's of thousands of people, a number thousands of times higher that would ever be included in a normal trial before a vaccine was brought to market - - because of this the data available to determine safety is much much greater - Trump and his operation Warp Speed made this possible and despite the speed, modern technology and the early willingness of thousands of volunteers to be test subjects and the willingness of Trump to provide massive funding could very well have saved 100's of thousands of lives
also as a bit more information for those who think this was "rushed" the MNRA technology that the Pfizer and Moderns vaccines is based on has been being worked on since the early 90's - - this is not something new- and a MNRA immunotherapy vaccine for cancer patients was approved way back in 2010 having already gone through the entire normal approval process - - - yea this technology hasn't been rushed at all, the only thing done at "warp Speed" was to focus the technology specifically on COVID-19. If you think about it every year they have to refocus the flu vaccine on the new variants that show up so re focusing vaccines toward a paticular virus is done in very short time all the time

I hate to sound like an asshole, but these surgical drone strikes that we now seem to think are the nice way we should fight a war clearly don't work. We have been trying this crap well over 20 years in that part of the world and before that in Vietnam and other places and clearly it hasn't accomplished a damn thing
Think about it - they hit us with some terrorist attack and blow up 10's or 100's of innocent people and our response is to use a drone to kill 2 or three guys in a truck on some remote dirt road - - - how can you ever win a conflict if you are willing to accept massive losses compared to the enemy every time they attack?? - - If you try to fight a humane war you are doomed to lose.
War is supposed to be ugly, its supposed to be terrifying and dirty and nasty and its supposed to be so horrific that no one thinks it is worth it for what they think they might gain - - - here we are letting them do these ugly, horrific, and terrifying types of attacks against people, many of which are totally innocent and then we respond with surgical strikes against actual bad guys??? - - how is that ever going to make them want to end the fight?? - - they are losing the people that signed up to fight and our side is losing 10 times more and our losses are mostly innocent civilians
If we are going to get into wars with these types of people we need to be willing to play the same game they are playing, As heartless as it may sound if they take out a market place full of wives, mothers and children we need to be willing to go over and bomb the crap out of one of their villages full of their mothers, wives and children - - - its sucks, its ugly, and yes its inhumane, but that is what war is supposed to be and that's why wars like like World War 2 were over and done and won in 6 years

Ed, I usually can see the logic of your arguments and generally agree with you on many of your points, but on this you are dead wrong. Any basic understanding of military planning would show that this tactic does not work (and is largely detrimental) to achieving objectives in the types of wars that our country has fought in our recent history. Wars between professional armies is no where close to fighting forces based on political, religious, etc ideology. The root of our Govt's challenge in these types of conflict isn't the willingness to do the ugly thing. The problem is that there is generally no path to victory with just conventional military operations. Dept of State has a huge role to play since these types of wars require a political solution to achieve the desired outcome. The US military can pretty much wipe out just about any force across the world if we want to, but that probably isn't going to solve the problem. Our Dept of State has been ineffective for every military action in recent history due to either non-action or screwing up things worse than they were before they got involved. The "iron fist" COIN (counter-insurgency) tactic is always a loser in history.

My hometown barely got a breeze or rain. THAT my friend is the very reason I bailed on Louisiana!! It missed this time but a bigger one could come in 2 weeks from now and wipe out all the progress from the last one. We can debate what is causing them but there is no question - they are becoming more prevalent and more in highly powerful, destructive storms!!
