I just serviced my final drive and I'm about to grease my u-joint and then on to my transmission. I got a bottle of 75w90 royal purple. Anyone had any issues with that? I just used 75w140 royal purple in the final drive. I was thinking I could make it all purple.
Where were we on the transmission fluid issue

Not to kick the hornet's nest but what are you'll using on your engine, mainly directed at those of your pushing the redline constantly?
-
5w30 Dexos approved Mobil 1 for the engine.
Royal Purple 75-140 for the final drive.
Royal Purple 75-90 for the transmission.
And I just acquired the 24mm for the drain and fill plug on the transmission. You can use a socket on the drain but the fill plug is a whole other problem. The frame is in the way.

I love me my Gear wrenches!!!!!!

I've now got around 32K miles on my 2015 Slingshot and awhile back I bought some RP (75/90? or 75/140?, Can't remember), but still haven't put it in as I'm still thinking about the Redline Shockproof which is supposed to be equivalent to the 75/90 - 75/140, but is reported to have better lubing properties for noisy gears.

@rydahog turned me on to the Shockproof......love it!!!

The twisted bastard that put the fill plug behind the frame rail needs his ass kicked....

Everyone needs to keep their U-joint greased..... I had just greased mine about 8 months ago. It took 10 shots of grease to even get it to start showing.

Good
I have put 3 quarts of 75-90w in the transmission and it still hasn't ran back out of the the hole. It's calling for 2.75qts in the manual. I have not spilled a drop either. And it's sitting perfectly level. I'm stopping at this point. Has anyone else ran into the discrepancy yet? -

Now you can really say you have a truly UNIQUE machine.......
-
Leave it to me to have the anomaly of the bunch.

I have some 75w140 I'm going to use to see if it will run out the hole. It should be ready to any second

Are there pictures of this process? If I decide to do my own oil changes, this is the maintenance that I don't know how to do...

I'm all R P since 1000 miles

Will you or anyone have a detailed thread about this?, trust me, I need details. Where to drain, where to fill, how to check. Might be a stupid question, but that's me,....I'm stupid!
-
I have a detailed write up on the final drive. But I doubt I will crawl back under to take pictures. It's pretty tight for a fat boy.

Thank you, I might be able to figure it out as long as I don't screw up the oil weight and amount.
