Has anyone besides me seen the new mud flaps of the new Slingshots coming out, what are your thoughts on it? Me, personally I prefer the original style that I have. The new ones look "cheap" and I don't like the way you see the screws holding it on.

For me, I hate the 2017 looks. Love the earlier version - IMHO that section on the 2017s looks cheap
-
Agreed about the cheapness. It's one of many areas they chose to trim excessive weight off to be able to offer more add ons in the future
-
I was thinking about the lower part of the flap with the fake tunnels being colored may look sharp and add some pop to that section but haven't figured out yet if it is possible or what would be required

If you get a chance look at the frame changes on the '17 ........Not where I would have cut weight ... the stoutness of the frame was one of the reasons I jumped in ..... if I saw what I saw at the dealership last week I would have passed ... YMMV

from day one the side splash guards have poked me in the eye... well they take the time to rework them and they make them worse.
Hell I would have designed something for free if they would have just asked.... -

if all the stars align and things go well I would love to be able to afford tooling cost for a new design..... Fiberglass is possible, even a metal fabrication but injection molded would be the way to go... unit cost would be low but start up cost are what prohibits small guys. Looking at 35k minimum for quality tooling.

RD - I could do tooling for much less - we just need some volume. In project like this a short tool life is acceptable. Things will change so quickly the part will be obsolete before you now it.

The start up is always the toughest!

I put red LED lights in mine that can be seen at night, give a nice glow going down the road

very true @MACAWS was thinking long term. I know of one big company (Protomold) that could do it... I have no experience with it but you are 100% correct. Damn..... this is getting interesting.
Only downside is the complexity of your design has to be restrained. Still can be done. -
The new side flaps hold water. Have way to many sharp lines. But I did hear Polaris designed the new ones to hold some type of hard bag storage/ luggage thingy.
-
@chad warren the dislike isn't for your post, it's what Polaris is doing to an awesome ride

I was just discussing this exact setup with my wife this evening! Would you be willing to share what you did and how you did it?

For mine, I built my underbody LED kit using the LEDGLOW product. They have 3" LED strips that fit in there and then I just routed up to the WiFi controller which I mounted next to my aux Fuze block

Go to Walmart and get the 12 inch LED strip / cheap in the color of your choice. Stick just under the upper lip on the fender and run to fuse panel and a switch. That is how I did mine and 12 inch strip works perfect and besides it is an easy install.
