I currently run HID's in one of my slingshots. the issue I have is when you turn the key it fires the ballast and when you press the ignition it refires the ballast which sometimes causes one headlight to go out. Do the LED's have this same issue?

No. That's the major reason I went with the leds and not the HD lights

If that is the case I will be buying the LED setup just didnt want to chance having the same issue, also did you purchase the slingmods one? im hoping the led's will be bright enough

I bought the ones from Noel at Cycle Springs (slingshotonly). if you go there and use their discount code of HOTAUGUSTNIGHTS [color=#000000]you can get a 5% discount off any regularly priced item for the rest of the month

I saw those but it seems it requires drilling?
-
Only have to open up the inside of the housing a little to give the larger led room to fit. Not hard at all and they provide the stepped bit to do it.
-
I installed the Cycle Springs set, you only drill the outside set. They give you the step drill bit and it only takes 30 seconds to drill them, you're only making the hole bigger.

This are the ones I use: Amazon

Man, for the life of me I couldn't figure out why one was going out, as you stated. I thought I had a bad ballast. I put HID's on the inboard and LED's on the outboard. Thought I would have the best of both worlds. It only happens once in a while, maybe I'll live with it. Is there a permanent fix for this issue???
-
The fix is to install a headlight cut off switch and only turn the headlights on after the slingshot is started. The ballasts don't like to be fired twice. That's what is causing a light to stay out. I ordered led's and I'm hoping this is a non issue with them

Try Googling for "D'Ecosse relay wiring". You should find his solutions for keeping headlights off until the engine is started. He has posted electrical solutions on numerous motorcycle forums, definitely knows his stuff and is widely considered an electrics God!

This is a common issue with the HID lights and the reason users install the headlight cutoff switch. I installed the LED lights from Cycle Springs and it was easy even for me. Be aware that the ballast fans fire off as soon as you turn the ignition on, not a warning, just a heads up. Great mod.

So do the led's have the same issues? I hope not I just spent a bunch
-
I haven't had any issues with mine.
-
My earlier post was just to make you aware of the fans, that the sound is normal. The lights are great.

We run LED's in our turbo'd Sling. Brighter than stock. Nice white light. Brand is Putco and bulb name is Nite-Lux. Got them in my truck too. Love them

@toeknee These will eliminate that problem with your HID's. I used them before putting my Sling into the wall. They are basically capacitors, that keep a constant charge to the ballasts during start up or any other excessive outside power draw spike.

Are they plug and play for our slingshots?

wolf thank you for that now I gotta figure out where these go in the install and if it will be an easy addition

I know I posted it on the dark side. It goes to the stock outlet and the first HID inlet. The connectors fit without modding. The hardest part is figuring out where to ziptie one more thing in that area.
