Seen this on youtube today wow owner said normal driving conditions getting off the highway
Looks like a bad casting Scary!
Swing arm failure

Thats the second one I've heard of. I would like to hear the full story. I feel there's always some details that are left out.
-
I just watched that. I would think bad casting also. Look at the dark spot , upper right. Luckily the driver was fine. He's a member on the dark side.
-
I for some reason always thought the swingarms were solid. Looking at it like that it looks very thin walled. But knock on wood. I guess he will be getting a Bob runman upgraded swingarm. I wonder if Polaris could come back and say he hit tracks to hard or a curb. It sucks regardless.

When was the first one other than from an accident .... I ask because this same one has been posted multiple different times, on a few sites, in the last day....And for perspective .......
Took Ducati 6 months and multiple swingarm failures to issue a no track use warning and pull in all Paningale for inspection and/or replacement .... and that bike is their flagship, purpose built track weapon and cost more than the Slingshot ........ like the SL forged wheel panic I would hope we have learned to approach this with a single indecent mentality and a bit more of a calm head then treat it like that whole thing was handled. How many are on the road now..... how many have been properly "stress tested" without failure .... glad nobody was injured however lets not get all Chicken Little again people .....

The first one I heard about was a long time ago. And I believe that guy hit something and tried to pass it off like it was Polaris for designing a crappy swingarm. That's why I said I would like the full story.
-
With all the stress on that rear swingarm I'm sure Polaris did there homework. But a bad casing could get through QC. But more importantly no one got hurt.
-
Ive not been over to the darkside for any length of time. So I don't know of any repost.
-
Didn't know this was old news? I just seen it on YouTube I don't know when it happened but it was a new posting on YouTube.
- As far as the looks if he had hit anything hard it would have damaged the tire and rim and the video does not show any damage to the tire and rim.
- If this is a repost sorry this the main site I go to now, No need to go any other place.
-
-
He hit a brick in the road if I remember correctly.
-
I saw the video... Silent... Then at the end, "This is what happens... Hiccup... Under normal driving conditions."
Sounds drunk... Lol... Sorry, just trying to add humor to this serious, but hopefully not prevalent issue...

This is the only one I've seen. It has been discussed fairly completely and I would be interested in seeing the Polaris Engineering failure report. If the failure is the result of casting issues as it appears, Polaris will just tighten up their inspection procedures at the source and probably put out a bulletin to the dealers. If we have more failures in the future, a higher level of attention might be placed on the swing arm.
For me, I'm going to ride the crap out of mine and not worry.

The video was fine except for the heavy mouth breathing. I kinda got turned on is that weird.
-
Some pics of the pavement where it happened would be very helpful.

weirdsurprising?There, fixed it for you.
-
It was like watching Darth Vader video his own accident. Luke I broke my slingshot. That would have been a perfect end to that video.
-
Was that a paper tag. Did he just get it that really sucks.
-
Few things that stand out in the video ,,, the bad casting is one major issue...
But yes, it is a paper tag...
And look at the tire...

Rab you old eagle eye. Now is that mud or dirt or scrap marks. I feel like I'm an episode of CSI. We need some illuminal and a black light now.
