Im wondering if i should get rid of the whole damn fuse block BUT ill fix it now with a new fuse holder like the recall one BUT im going over the electrical manual with a fine tooth comb.......theres no DAMN FUN in breaking down.....
So you didn't have the fuse block recall done?
So you didn't have the fuse block recall done?
Yes i did it myself but that was the top fuse NOT the bottom and there isnt a issue with that 50amp fuse.....
Also these are the lights that came on when it shut down on me while moving.......
....that 50 amp switchable fuse block was my first option with the polaris recall but it failed on me so i went to the Maxi fuse holder, which is what polaris called for to begin with, i just never removed it.......
That fuse holder should have popped that 40amp fuse instead burning up the plastic, i believe that fuse holder is the issue but since they are seperated now ill keep my eye on it alot more now and even might pull the last wire out and separate that one also but first to the electrical schematic i go.....

And that post was for the TOP fuse which is the recall , polaris has out NOT the bottom.........POLARIS you listening .......

If memory serves me correctly, the recall was to bypass the 50 amp main chassis fuse and install the new fuse.
I have never had the fuse recall done to Sling I.
It doesn't have to be enough current to blow the fuse. If there is a poor connection it becomes a resistance and you get a voltage drop at that point. That causes heat that burns up the area around it. I lived in a mobile home, house trailer, for awhile and it was wired with aluminum wire. The wires would come loose at the wall sockets and start getting hot. I would have to go around and feel the wall plates to see if they were warm and if they were I would have to tighten the wire connection. I had it burn the insulation off the wire before I started checking. You will probably just have to replace the fuse holder. Your voltage to what was on that run probably was dropping to low.

Well im hoping all is ok , now that i removed it and placed it in its own fuse holder.........
The reason I have a 2016 Slingshot....fried fuse block --- before the headlight recall. TOOOOOO old to wait for warrantee work so I traded a 15 for a 16. From Feb 2015 to Sept 2015 had 16,901 miles on the 15 and was able to trade up to the 2016 with NO waiting ... had the newest Slingshot at the 2015 Rally in Eureka Springs. Picked it up on Wed am and was at the Rally on Thur pm. Good times.

So what r u saying I should get a 2022 maybe...........ill pass

Your talented enough to fix it....not so much for me....
I have had the recall done and, even that is not quite impressive. All they do is bypass the factory fuse block and crimp a big fuse holder in place on the main chassis fuse.
Now, after seeing the fuse block melt on other circuits, I am thinking of doing a little preventive maintenance so I am not left stranded on the side of the road.
May be picking up one of these and some extra mini ANL fuses.
I was just curious. I believe I was the first one to have a meltdown on the rear fuse box. I had to pay to have it fixed but about 2 years or more later polaris finally did the recall and they reimbursed me. No issues since.
mo, I would do the same fix as the recall for that 40 amp fuse. Thatās the engine circuit. Other than the alarm system have you added anything else to the engine circuit? Fastest way to check the problem eliminate that fuse for the heavy duty one.
Maybe for some reason the alarm system was causing the circuit to over heat. Bad ground....loose ground....or hot wire issue..... Now the damage is done and it will always over heat now. It could still be something in the alarm system that started the issue.

My exact same thinking, i found the issue & removed that wire off of that J-case fuse box and attached a maxi fuse with a 40amp fuse.....ill be keeping my eye on that fuse and wire and plan on going over the electrical manual when i get an opportunity.........
.. .so had a chance to re-install my Digital Gard Dawg keyless remote setup since the issue was the J-case fuse box, all seems well back in slingshot land until the next issue arises (knock on wood) hopefully which wont be any time soon.......
