OH HELL! This is going to get interesting.
You need to set a no politics rule. We already have a thread for politics in the news.
And maybe “No Dogs Allowed.”
And it is NOT 'NSFW'....
Today...
Well, here is an interesting thought....
In this day and age, Cyber Crime is an ever growing threat & reality. ISIS would love to hack a system where they could hijack a motor vehicle, and steer it into a crowd without the loss of their martyr I am sure.
Take control of one in New York, then LA, then Orlando.... Call it fear mongering, but I think anything that is becoming "Driverless" is cutting edge technology and so new that they don't even know what possible flaws exist in their system. It isn't like these thing operate with US Navel Drone security systems.
There.... that should generate some conversation....
Hacking into car control systems has already occurred...
Correct, and adds to my arguement
Hacking into car control systems has already occurred...
Hacking into car control systems has already occurred...
I remember reading about that. What I read stated no "real world" hacks have been done. However several auto makers system were hacked in short order in controlled, "can you hackers hack our systems" tests.
^^^ Agree
From what early news reports indicates, a woman was pushing a bicycle and attempting to cross a street when she was struck. There was an individual in the driver's seat of the vehicle. Don't know if the woman was at a crosswalk or not. I never have been a fan of driverless vehicles.
And it is NOT 'NSFW'....
I'm out then.
so, intersting question ......
Is Uber at fault for this? Is it a default position or does it force everyone else, to obey traffic laws?
J-walking is now a death sentence if the car is autonomous, and god help you if you change lanes without signaling....
My question is what was the "safety" driver doing. Apparently he may not have been paying as much attention as he should have. It would be too easy to be distracted or not pay attention if you think the vehicle computer won't make a mistake. I just figure it's nice to have safety controls built into a vehicle but if I have to be behind the wheel I want to be in control and driving.

@HeRSling always questions whether or not you are in control when you are driving. I think she is in control and you are automoninous to her inputs.
Another school shooting - the only death was the gunman...
Why didn't they break into the tv shows to let us know the armed officer saved lives?
Currently unconfirmed whether the officer shot the gunman or whether the gunman shot himself...
Either way - he DID intercede...
Well after the uproar of the last guy not doing anything, and the trouble he is facing now, I am sure it was a wake up call for every guard across the country.
They'll be walking tall in that school for a while. To be honest, I found that news story more "eye catching" simply because the heading was different. At first you see "school shooting" and a piece of your heart dies ..... but the outcome is only the shooter is dead? Hell yeah... that was news! Good job.
The insanity continues in TX...
