Winter time is here for some of us on the forum. Personally I have never had any and I have ridden year round in the coastal South Carolina area. Looking for any words of wisdom on heated gear. What works and what does not.
Heated Riding Gear

On my Rzr and in my rock crawler, I have a Gerbing dual controller.
The wife and I use heated jacket liners and have been very happy.
We have been up in the mountains with temps in the teens and stayed very comfortable. -

I have the Grebing jacket liner & gloves the temp controller and use the cig lighter
in the center as a power source. I generally only turn the unit to less than half power and stay plenty warm. Last April when I came to South Carolina it was about 30 in Northern Indiana didn't warm up much until I got in to Middle Tenn.
I have a pair of 'snowmobile' pants and some warm boots to complete the warm
getup.
They now have some battery powered units out and if you not riding in real cold and using HIGH power might work out well. I did think about that, but had the Grebing from my Gold Wing days. -
If you have a Cycle Gear store near you go in and look at their Seduci heated riding gear. Their liners use the carbon heating gear that is very effective and it is guaranteed for the life of the product. They will do a one for one swap in the store if there is a problem. It generally cost less than the name brands.

So will each cigarette lighter be able to handle one riders worth of gear (jacket liner and maybe gloves)?
-
I just attach a harness to the battery and run the lead up the side of the seat. The single connector will connect to the jacket which usually has the connections built in for the gloves and pants. Then you will not worry about over powering the accessory connections.

That makes sense. So if I got out of the sling I would obviously have to unplug my jacket therefore not drain on the battery correct?

I use the cig lighter between the seats. I under stand that the wires there aren't
quite as heavy as the one in the glove box but I run with the temps set less than
50% and never leave it plugged in when I not in use. Both will handle I just find
the one between seats more convenient. -

The cheap way to go is a heated seat pad that can plug into the cig lighter.
My son bought one for me before I got my Gerbing set up... The Heated seat pad about $25.00 and works pretty good. -

That is correct mine stays connected year round. All I have to do pull it up from the side of the seat and plug in.

What amps are the cigarette lighters plugs rated at?

I did not know it but there is a Cycle Gear Store in Charleston that I will be checking out. THANKS

@FunCycle let me know what you figure out. I would love to get something to keep warm. Torn between heated seats or heated clothes. Leaning to heated clothes.
I can tell you right now, it will not be heated seats. That is just a waste of electricity.

I bought the
Gerbing Ultra-Lite Heated Gloves - 12V Motorcycle $99
Gerbing Heated Jacket Liner - 12V Motorcycle $199.95they work great, keep me nice and warm. I also bought the
This then allowed me to set both the gloves and jacket to separate fuses and control them independently with the Neutrino, I have the jacket liner set to come on at 64 Deg / 10% power and ever 2.5 Deg's lower the temp goes it increases power by 10%.
The gloves come on at 60 Deg / 10% and also increase as temp gets colder.
Highly recommend heated gear.... so much nicer when out riding early mornings and it's only 41 Deg's out

So is there a max amperage draw total on the slingshot? I did just add the optima blue top.
-
Too much current draw...

I don't know the 'wire' size of any of the Slingshot wiring... I will probably never have a reason to plug in more than one 'heated' jacket liner at a time.
The man who know all... @Tripod can you chime in here... Thanks.
