What is the size of the lug nuts on the Slingshot. Does the black plastic cover come off before the socket goes on or dos it stay on the nut for removal?
Looking for a rear tire today. One of the local tire dealers said they would not touch the SS. They would do the tire if I brought the wheel in. I had planned on doing that any way. Anything I should be aware when I replace the rear tire?
Lug nuts?

Retorque after 50 miles, then maybe a couple more times as mileage accrues... -

Boy let me tell you about lugnuts.
Do yourself a favor and order some real ones now. I have a thread on the dark side that has some info in it that everyone needs to at least be aware of.
Tell you what. Let me just make a post in the Tech section now and y'all can read it if you want to.

I remember that - and due to that, replaced mine when I got new wheels. It would be good to post that over here. Thanks Rab!

You are absolutely correct. I promise I am trying to get my threads posted over here from the dark side as soon as I can. It is the perfect opportunity to get this thread added to the forum.....

I went with the spline drive lug nuts when I changed to aftermarket wheels. The only thing I didn't like about them was that the anodized finish wore off fairly quickly. I've since changed to hex drive. You can somewhat protect the finish by using a plastic bag between the socket and the lug nut. No matter what you go with, Rabs right, change them out.

If you want to try and keep them pretty, you never use an air impact wrench on them and also you use a 6 point deep socket to install and to remove.

I always go with mcguard lug nuts. They stand behind in the warranty. Never had issues in past on my last 4 cars or suvs
Get them from Amazon usually

I replaced the lug nuts when I replaced the rear tire yesterday. Only problem I had was the motorcycle lift I have is to wide to fit under the front end. If I try going in from behind the front tire the lift comes in to contact with the foot wheel. If I try from the front the I can only get about 1 " on one of the lifting arms on the jack. I have a regular floor jack I will try the next time I need to lift the front end. I checked the tightness after the ride and none of teh new lug nuts were loose.
