How to make latching hood better. I close hood all latches close , but back passenger latch isn't as tight as others. It has some play in it, but it is latched.

Watch this very informative video

I highly recommend adding the hood hinge extensions...it helps to open the hood easier.

I was trying to figure out why back of hood by windshield is tighter on driver side than it is on passenger side. It is latched but as tight as other side.

If the problem is that one side of your hood is closer to the windshield than the other, it is not the latches. There is an adjustment at the hood hinge assembly. I had the same problem and discovered that the passenger side bolts were loose (thanks @Painter). A little adjustment at the hood will solve the being close problem. Then you will have to adjust the location of the latch a little as well. I am attaching the page from the manual to show you where the bolts are.

Thanks. Will looks at them.

Here is a bigger pic of the assembly. Note that bolt #8 goes into an adjustable slot. It's the same on both sides.
I did all kinds of hinge adjustments and latch adjustments to get my hood to fit decently. You can even up the gaps. Don't forget Polaris wasn't overly concerned with rolling ball bearings down the gaps to test the fitment.
mine lines up good but from day one the passenger side catches when trying to open. I have to have someone lift it to open hood.
The stock Slingshot hood latches are very flimsy and make hood opening and closing a pain. Alpha has these reinforced hood brackets which when adjusted helps get rid of this problem. 4 bolts and 30 minutes it is a very simple installation. There are a few colors to choose from as well. Hope this helps!

Move the rear passenger side latch. Loosen the 2 bolts you see and move it just a touch I'd bet to the front.
I had the hood hinge extension installed at SSITS 2017 by @DDM Works, great product. You have also more room to work under the hood.

Mine worked fine until I made the hood look straighter from side to side near the windshield...my driver side latch catches now...I was going to try a piece of shim stock under the bracket bolts to move the latch slightly toward the outside to see if that works.... if I try to open the hood it catches...if I let it back down I can usually get it to open..
The latch cable adjustment is really touchy...with the hood open lock all the latches....then open them....you should hear one quick snap as all four open...any lingering snap is out of adjustment..4 latches ....1 snap.

One more time, adjust the latch! Loosen it and move it! As you look at it, you will see 2 bolts. Loosen them and align them with the catch on the underside of the hood.Just a little movement will make a huge difference. If you moved the hood, you'll have to move a latch because what it catches on was moved!!!!

I can't move it any more toward the outside...without shimming the entire alpha bracket out.
