WOW, so if 6 repubs, without thinking voted "present" all in the same vote, they can then go back in time for that specific vote and change their mind? yes, they can change their mind in a new vote, but didn't think they could in the same vote.
Thats pretty screwed up that you can change your mind once you have voted, if you don't like who got voted in.
OK, so lets get rid of the past few cycles, and tell me when this has happened before? 6 votes with no result...... Oh yes, NEVER.... so not really a sheep in line thing. For a party that can't get their shite together, people have a lot of faith in them for some reason. Team Dems are playing as a team, while Team Repubs are playing like a bunch of hacks.
Straight up, thats why they are where they are. if the Repubs had there shite together, and acted like it, they would be in a much better position. Thats why they call it an election.

Voting present isn't a vote, there is no rule that you must cast your vote when called in alphabetical order or you lose it. A vote is only cast by voicing a nominees surname. The chair verifies after the call with each rep who voted present if they intend to not vote. They can chose to vote at that time or not. Once an actual vote is cast it can't changed without a plea to the chair. Once the results are read in to the record it's set in stone.
True, in the past this has played out behind the scenes on both sides but it still happened, McCarthy is just so weak and inept that he is allowing the vote. Just last cycle Pelosi didn't have the votes several times but she was bright enough to cancel the votes until she had the numbers. Just one more reason why McCarthy should withdraw. Why should the party elect someone to be leader that cannot lead. If it's not settled today then the sun will still rise tomorrow and the biggest concern on many in Congress will still be when do they get to go home because after a Speaker is chosen the old guard go home for three weeks as the newly elected settle in so don't believe the hype, there is no rush.
Oh, and President Trump supporting McCarthy lost him another rung for me putting him currently below the bar, so you have that.

My Twilight Years at 90. If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will come a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat.
It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let everyone of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, "He was my friend, and I know where he stood."
So, just in case I'm gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against, Biden, that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron that spent eight years-in the White House with Obama trying to destroy our wonderful country and turn it into Muslim loving, socialist crap hole like he came from and I don’t mean Hawaii!
Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.

He did endorse Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012 and criticized Biden during his speech at the Republican National Convention that year, according to NPR.
