    I think we are beyond that as being a requirement at this point. When the other side can generate more votes than actual voters, I don’t see any reason to reach across the aisle and embrace evil, repackage it, and market it as “moderate” in order to appeal to a broader audience. When good is called evil, and evil is called good…get in the good book, no political party is going to save us from damnation.

    Personally I would rather believe democracy still has a chance so long as you can find a candidate who brings people together and doesn't only appeal to one side


    In the end - "by the people and for the people" isn't supposed to only mean the people who agree with you is it?

    Mr. Neal, I respect you and like your level headed opinions. Maybe one day I’ll cool down a bit but it probably won’t be anytime soon. I vote in person, at the ballot box, for the same reason I still put my hand to my heart when the Star Spangled Banner plays. Boot camp memories from decades ago are fresh in my mind when we did “pass and review” in front of the largest American flag I have ever seen.I love this country and appreciate all of the opportunities it has afforded to me. I don’t trust the current political machinery one bit.


    I welcome differences of opinion and embrace diversity of ideas, I don’t believe extending an olive branch to the extreme left is helpful in the least.

    No one or group can fix the mess we are in because none have the guts. My idea for the homeless is, build a compound in one state, gather up all the homeless, stick them there. For those that can be rehabed,, rehab th get them a job and get them back into society. For those that cannot be rehabbed, be sure they are kept in the compound. One problem solved. Next for those breaking the law, prosecute to the max and put them in a penal colony on an island someplace. Next probkem, stop illicit drugs from coming into the country, stop and search everything and everyone crossing the borders. If that slips imports, too bad. Onto the next problem and so on.

    Seems simple doesn't it.

    In the immortal words of Rush Limbaugh the left must be soundly defeated not placated, not appeased.


    Whenever you bargain with evil the first thing you have to ask yourself is how much evil are you willing to allow in your life. And as difficult as it may seem to say the left today in my eyes is evil. Confiscatory taxes, abortion up until birth, rules for the but not for me, and the list goes on. Yes, they must be defeated!

    Do away with welfare, no food stamps. Make it so any one can go into a grocery store and get red beans and rice for free. If they are tired of red beans and rice we sorry get a job. Oh you can't get a job or don't like work you go to the poor farm and they will find something there for you to do. Yes when I was a kid growing up in Iowa there were Poor Farms. We used to donate deer to them. No one wanted to go there so we did not have homeless. Families took care of their family members.

    and herein lies the problem. Just because its not your way of thinking doesn’t mean its evil. Just because people don’t agree doesn't make one side evil. Until the hardline right gets this (which I won’t hold my breath), things will continue on a similar path. Left will win, moderate GOP will get called RINO and shamed, and hardliner GOPers will keep complaining that everything left of them is evil and wrong. Don’t believe me? Its happening now!!!!

    Here's the problem.


    As I posted before my father owned two grocery stores, I know for a fact that not a single person receiving food stamps ever worked out of them despite being perfectly capable. I must say they weren't bad people, I don't think any of them would ever harm anyone. Truth is I really liked many of them. I enjoyed knowing them. Here's the problem, in time people settle in on a lifestyle. Soon they feel comfortable. They realize it's ok, you can survive without a car, and many nice things. Some food, pick up odd under-the-table jobs from time-to-time and you can get your cigarettes and some drink. All is good.


    Politicians that operate knowing this as a method to hold on to power and control are not helping people. As long as the left keeps giving away free "entitlements" on the back of the working taxpayers they'll keep on winning! In time all democracies fail when the takers outnumber the givers.
