I dont really think media moves very many minds simply because the people now days have so many options that they choose the media sources that tell them what they want to here - - its not like it was when most of us were young and you only had a handful of media options

Also very very few people actually research both sides of the issues and then use their own minds before they vote - - - for the most part you have two types - people who picked the R or D side years ago probably because that's what mom and dad were and will never vote any differently no matter what the policies of the actual candidates might be and then you have the sheep who dont even think about it and simply follow what they are told by the others in their particular heard.

The next federal reserve meeting is scheduled for next week, 26 & 27th. I'm guessing a rate hike of .75 to 1. Thinking it's going up now and gearing for a big sell of just before the fed res meeting. Not taking the bate today but I may jump into a more aggressive stance after the next big sell off. How much lower can it go?

I like it. That surely wouldn't give the Democratic party much room to squirm. I'm not a trump only kind of person and I'm not focusing on the past election although it must be secure for everyone's sake. It's that simple. On the flip side if it came to it I would be comfortable with a Tulsi Gabbard and Joe Machin ticket, wouldn't lose any sleep but that's not going to happen, the media and party would rip them apart.

When I was growing up in school the teachers used to say in this country anybody can become president.

And Joe Biden proved them right.

I never sell because I haven't lost anything unless I sell when the market is down. I just let it ride and at 74 it seems to have worked out. Oh, just decided to order a new Corvette. Unfortunately there's a 18 month wait. So I'm not too worried about the market.

I’ll be the turd in the punch bowl wrt this inane nattering about R VS D. Who wishes to kill the unborn and who doesn’t. Which party wants to”defund the police”? F the dems, Canadians and anyone that agrees with either are bound for wrath. Signing off from this forum. Thanks to all who were kind and helpful in our decision to buy our SS last year. I will embrace my Lord and Saviour and humbly step away from these discussions.

Guess this Canadian is heading down to the big fire pit, based your your "nattering". IMO Religion and politics should not mix, unfortunately they do.

Perhaps for many it comes down to republican vs democrat and some other issues. I calculated my retirement ultra conservative. 2% till 100 years old and I can sit outside in the morning, drink a cup of coffee watching the birds. I enjoy that and I do. At 4% I can ride my slingshot, ride my motorcycle, buy some aftermarket stuff and hopefully as/if the slingshot/motorcycle wears out I have confidence I can cover the costs and purchase a new ride and finish out life in a good fun way.

Never about R vs. D or other, but direction and performance. These are the funds managed by BlackRock under the current administration and their performance year to date. I don't have the luxury that Pelosi has. Pick an equivalent to an ETF and it's what you get. It's my life, my retirement. It's failing very badly! Given these numbers combined with inflation, crime, boarder issues, drug and human trafficking. Yeah, you can't possibly compare this with an offensive tweet, that's too much to handle.

While I agree that those number look bad, but as with everything related to those numbers change is constant. A forecast today will only be good for today..

As for inflation, crime, border issues, drugs, human trafficking all have been here since I can remember and no one person or party will make them go away.

We have spent an estimated 1 trillion on the "drug war" and only have more drug problems now than before.

The border issue has been there my whole life. I lived in Yuma, AZ in the 70's and the problem was the same as it is now. I would really like to see our country function without "migrants". Look around, who picks the lettuce, who paves the roads, who puts roofs on houses, who cooks in restaurants, who cleans, an on an on...

We have created these problems with our own greed and corruption. There would not be a drug problem if Americans did not use drugs. There would not be a human trafficking problem if people did not participate in that, crime, ha ha I would take one back to the era of gangsters... I could keep going on but really I guess my soapbox is starting to sag from the weight of my thoughts.

It's not about migrants it's about "illegal migrants!".

Agree somewhat but what worries me is the drastic total shift in the basic working of the economy as opposed to a shift in which the economy can handle. Thats the difference from the 80s or even the Obama administration. I suppose as a society we are addicted to spending but what happens when for some people that 3rd and forth credit card max out? Socialism and collectivism only work for those who contribute less, for all others, just work more and get less. Thats where we seem to be heading.

My older brother's life ended at 51. Shoulder pain got prescribed pain killers. Then cut off, turned to alternate sources and got a bad batch. Within a two block area in my neighborhood, I know of two young adults that have OD and died. Massive amounts of fentanyl crossing the border. Very bad stuff.

I could go on and on also. Sure these elements have been in place, and we will never eliminate them. I'm just worried that the attitude bad people are only bad because society has made them into who they are is replacing the ideals of individual hard work and smart decisions will put a person on a path to success.

Time will tell, I wish I had more reason to feel confident about are direction.

Doesn't mean we should facilitate illegal activity especially in light of the Biden administration's efforts to help the cartels and traffickers.
