report two years ago ranking Canada 10th out of 11 wealthy nations in terms of health care. Only the United States fared worse. Major problems, I still say no. Problems. Yes. Nothing is without issues that could not be made to work better.

They provide all the charts for comparison. Biggest problem in Canada is wait times for elective and specialty procedures.

And even if Canada's system provided perfect healthcare it still comes down to one very big philosophical difference with how many people believe things should be done.

Should the individual be responsible for his or her self, or should they not?

Do you want a system where if you are a productive and hard working person you are forced to pay additional taxes to pay for the needs of those who choose to be less productive?

In the end those who are productive and work pay for our own healthcare - it might be indirectly through taxes, but you still pay for it - - - so the question is do you prefer a system where you are forced to pay for other peoples healthcare or do you prefer a system that promoted individual responsibility?

And yes I think we are all willing to help those who simply cannot help themselves and both of our countries have systems in place to provide those with help, its the people who won't help themselves by choice - - - in Canada, you Sparcky are forced to pay for them - you have no choice. its socialism and redistribution of wealth - you wealth. In the end another good question would be "does this really even help" or does it promote laziness and kill the desire to do better?

  • The long and short of it for any nation and their systems is it’s what we were brought up with, it’s what we’re used to, and it’s what we accept as normal. Not to say that an nations policies doesn’t come with challenges, problems and issues and things that can be tweaked/umproved to be made better or more efficient. Same as your second amendment and guns, that’s what the US people were brought up with and are used to. Outside nations don’t necessarily see it the same as they were brought up differently. Doesn’t mean one is right or wrong compared to the other, it’s just different. Hence different points of view.

  • I have to admit. I do like the metric system. Wrench to big, go one smaller. Wrench to small, go one bigger. No more of this 7/16, 1/2, 5/8, then you get hit with 7/32? WTF? So Canada has that going for it! I remember my grade school teacher's explaining that within five years America will go metric. That was 50+ years ago.

we are all screwed up here. We use both for measuring different things.

  • I will never understand why some people think the Supreme Court should base their decisions on what they want or don’t want. Don’t these morons understand decisions are based on what is or is not in the constitution and have nothing to do with popularity. The right to have guns is in the constitution. The right to an abortion is not in the constitution- simple as that, has nothing to do with politics has nothing to do with ideology

I agree but who were the 3 morons that opposed the decision?

  • no one said health care isn't busy. It is. We do pay taxes for that correct. Where do ypu read that “so many” Canadians travel to get health care elsewhere. It happens but few and far between. Not as widespread and bad as you make it out to be. You watch too much TV

Very high number of Canada babies in US NICUs near the boarder. Is that one of those specialized things you were mentioning?
