I made it to Birmingham before that bearing on the trailer went out. However the good news is I found out why!!! The brakes were hanging on and heating it up. The drum was 9 billion degrees and smoking. I have the brakes completely removed from the axle now and I have the bearings out and a tube of red-n-tacky grease. But I need the big bearing and the back seal. I am stuck here till a parts place opens. I am in the parking lot of a Dennys/Flying J truck stop so I have food. I will just dolly the trailer down and lock the hitch while I run to the parts store. Depending on what time I get done I will let @Dave@DDMWorks and @MACAWS know if I'm going to make it to DDM today.
Stuck at Flying J at exit 41 in Birmingham.

Bummer. At least you were able to get to a safe spot with food! Seems like this only happens to me when I'm on the interstate or a toll road. Good luck and hope it's a quick fix then on to the better times!

I have made it slowly to an Autozone! This is one of the main reasons I won't buy a single axle trailer. I am still able to move with one axle. I just asked Google for the closest parts store and this Autozone was 1.6 miles away. I believe the bearing I need is a normally stocked item. I will look it up online to make sure.
I should be on my way 15 mins after I have the parts in my hand. So I may be 11 or 12 before I get to DDM.
WE WILL DYNO THIS BEAST IF I HAVE TO UNLOAD IT AND DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY!!!!

Fingers crossed for you.... -
If the online inventory isn't wrong they have what I need in have already created a online shopping cart with all the parts. They had them all in stock.
I can't believe I didn't see any sign of brakes before when I took the hub off. One thing for sure now. It won't be brakes that are dragging!!! I have stripped them out of this axle. I have 3 more brake hubs.

Good luck Rab...keep us posted...Please STAY Safe!!!

We are getting some dyno numbers. I am going to get a hotel room so that I can get some sleep after this day is over. I should be at DDM around 12 or 1. Plenty of time to get some good pulls on the dyno.
-
20 more minutes till autozone opens!!!!
I hate stuff breaking down. It just happens at the most inconvenient times!
It's like little gremlins are just sitting around waiting for you to be in a hurry.
-
What caused the brakes to hang?
-
It's the axle with the manual brake lever.. I think someone pulled the lever and didn't tell me. The lever was in the off position but it will cause you problems if you use it. I should have disconnected it a long time ago. .. it's been an issue since I bought it. I just use my electric brakes to hold the axle in place when I'm sliding it.

6 more minutes. They are inside autozone but the lights are still off. I'm just waiting.

Please let me know if I can do anything to assist.
I am loading and at work in Smyrna with plans to head to DDM at 10 this am .
If I need to head to Bham instead ,I will be happy to do so . -

I'm leaving Birmingham now and I'm headed straight there. Should be 3.5 to 4 hours. So make sure the dyno is available when I get there.
-
I know I am not alone anxious to see the one. I hope you get some video of this epic battle!!!

As a safety note, you may want to inspect the remaining hubs just to make sure this doesn't happen (or has alredy happened) in the near future. Glad you were able to get everything on your shopping list and on your way safely. Good luck with the dyno!!!!! As usual...pictures, pictures, pictures, and accompaning videos, if you please!!!!!
