OK... my old early build SS did not have this plug located at the back swing arm. What h
ave I missed ?
New to me. What is this plug for?
-
-
I'm pretty sure that is for a battery tender
-
was think that with the new smaller battery. Wasn't aware they were making it standard issue.
-
Might be for a battery tender.
It could also be the transport jump port. The delivery driver can plug a power port into it to get electrical power for steering without the battery installed. If I remember correctly (from years ago when I worked for a powersports dealer) Those supposed to be removed during the PDI. (Pre Delivery inspection)
If someone has a service Manual and can check the section on Pre Deliver Inspection Procedures to know if it is a transport power port. -
@Ruptured Duck Not on mine- @Joker256 must be right.........
-
will look into it later tonight in the manual. Haven't squeezed underneath to see where it goes just yet. Figured it was something new on all the current production that I just ignored.

I'm curious to know. Let us know when you find out.

That is most definitely a trickle battery charger connector. Can't tell you whether it's actually conneced to your battery or not. Can check quickly with a voltmeter. Pull back cap cover - the exposed metal pin should be negative & the recessed pin should be positive & you'll be reading battery voltage, approx. 12.6 volts or so if it's hooked up. I know that some Polaris dealers put these on but most don't.

Dealer install battery tender Jr.

thanks guys.... nice to have I guess...

Dealer install battery tender Jr.
PortI knew you could help. Why don't all dealers install this? Why wouldn't his dealer inform him that it's there? Seems odd to just put the port on.
-
Awesome. Glad Noel had the answer for you! I'm used to being wrong.
@Noel Hughes Just curious, do they still put those transport power cables on them? I remember them from years ago.
-
We install them on New Motorcycles
Customer needs to buy the battery tender Jr. -
my dealer installed one on my 16'. Didn't even know till I got home.
-
So, is this something dealers were suppose to install? or just do for the hell of it? Why would some install and others not? Is this something Polaris provides dealers aren't doing???

I think , like with Most HD Dealers , If the cable is installed it makes for an easy upsale of the tender if the sales person remembers to offer. Battery Tenders are huge business out of need and desire . I don't think any manufacture requires them .
-
guess I have no reason not to purchase one. Just don't see it sitting long enough to need one honestly..
