Just because a site sells something doesn’t mean you must have it...I just look at it as an up sell move....
Something is killing my back fender

Well - in this case it looks like they were correct when they said it was required. You didnt relocate the license plate mount and it hit the fender and messed up your nice paint job.
if you had listened to them when they said it was required this thread wouldnt exist

I didn’t get it from them...I got it on eBay....
-
You got what you paid for.
-
LOL.... he sure did @Andy Hatch. When I purchased my fender from Metricks they included the plate relocation kit as it is required. Guess he got the cheap knock off one.

Got my SS inspected today and while we were looking over the SS I found this....the rear fender bracket is cracked in half. it’s molded into the under side of the fender. This fender is taking a real beating while driving. I have to come up with a way to fix it and make it stronger. This fender has become a real pain .... it’s slways something

you did say it was a cheep e-bay knock off - - - not sure I am surprised it hasn't held up well

That’s a 1/8” thick bracket. But if it’s Chinese it’s scrap metal. Shopping right now for some stainless steel strapping 1/4” x 1 wide.
-
if you could take picture of the whole bracket .. You may be able to keep what you have but
over lay it 3/16" material and weld it on to strengthen. -
The bracket is fiberglassed into the fender....I have to take the fender off and grind off the fiberglass to get the broken bracket off. I haven’t decided if I’ll glass the new bracket back into the fender or just leave it exposed....so I can change it again and again...LOL
Might run decorative bolts through the fender and bracket. The old bracket only goes halfway acroosss the fender....the new one will go the whole way across.

Here is picture of Vanderhall external bracket
And on slingshot I have fiberglass in center of fender on inside a 1/8 steel plate approx 1/ 1/2" wide and have one rib going to hub bolting

Well this is what happened first
The tube brackets snapped off at the welds where it bolts to the swing arm so I used some 12” long 1/2” bolts to make new ones and there have be a few issues trying to get it into the correct position.
I worked on it today grinding and bending new brackets that will get bolted through the fender. These will go the whole way across the fender hopefully this will give it a little more support. I’m
Going to drill & tap the brackets for the bolts so I don’t have to lose any space for nuts that might rub the tire. And I added a tiny bit more to them to raise it about 1/8- 3/13” higher. So we’ll see how that goes. -
After seeing the stealth fender mounted on the body not the swing arm (which makes way more sense) this is what I’m working on now.
The new brackets are going to hang off the welter exhaust brackets.
Bracket will look like this
