Another senseless tragedy last night in Las Vegas when a 64 year old Las Vegas resident opened fire on a country concert. The shooter is dead and reports are the Las Vegas police are looking for an accomplice. Tragically, 50 people have already been confirmed dead and over 200 have been listed as wounded in this senseless assault on innocent people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends that have been impacted by this event

Videos are absolute madness. They’re saying the guy was on the 32 floor of Mandalay Bay. Why in the hell would anyone open fire on a country music festival!? If anyone is minding their own business it’s country music fans. They’re good folk.

From your perspective. My guess either he was truly nuts, and just took an easy target, or this is a political/social issue, and the concert was targeted as opposition. Either way, this is going to get ugly in a damn hurry. Yet another good reason to avoid large gatherings and crowds. (I know @sideseatdriver and I were having this exact discussion with a few folks at Booze & Blues this weekend.)
Prayers to those families affected. Be safe out there, folks.

Very horrific murder. Coward had ten different rifles the reports are saying. I suppose he could have cut the glass, however I didn't think windows could be opened that high up.
Just a piece of shit coward to do that to defenseless people.

It has less to do with the recent increase in violent actions against any word cloud, and more to do with the actions of people in the crowd. Once the crowd gets above a certain number, especially if they are not all aligned in something non-emotional (like Slingshots!), it does not take very much to get Negative emotions going, and then the mob mentality takes over. I have seen it happen, and I don't want to be a part of it. Then there are the practical concerns of being in a crowd with our kids and being able to get up quickly, and being able to protect myself and the ones I am with. The bottom line is, I just don't enjoy it much anymore, although there are certain situations that I am more comfortable with than others. For example, I don't have as much of an issue with a minor league baseball game, just as a comparison to a large open air concert.
