We were about 99.6%
Not having to go anywhere and deal with traffic was the best. It got really dark but we could still see a tiny slither of the sun on the lower edge. The temperature drop was interesting.

Made my own eclipse glasses & I couldn't see shit...

Here's what I was able to get. only 4 minutes before the maximum the cloudy skies cleared for us and gave us some great views at 85% of a full eclipse

Crazy question....
if the Earth rotates eastward (counterclockwise) then why didn't it start on the east coast and move to the west coast? -
hete is what i found ...... the eclipse traveled eastward because that's the direction the moon orbits the earth. If you were to peer down at the planet from above the North Pole, the moon circles it in a counterclockwise direction. We don't normally see this because the earth rotates approximately 30 times during a lunar month

Crazy question....
if the Earth rotates eastward (counterclockwise) then why didn't it start on the east coast and move to the west coast?Because the moon travels around the earth at around 2200 mph from all sorts of angles. It's all about the two randomly lining up and tracking the moon's path to predict the eclipse.

@Slingrazor, looks like @HeRSling and I will be at your house on 4/8/24. And we can both celebrate our 70th birthdays that year. And our 52nd anniversary. Woohoo, big year.

What a fantastic event guys, I was very fortunate to be only 45 min from the longest eclipse time across the US. We had a MOONFEST featuring Ozzy Osbourne doing Bark at the Moon during the total darkness. The only problems were the traffic with all the influx of tourists, rooms sky rocketed to $900, solar glasses jumped to $12 from 1.99. It was just an amazing event in itself.
