anyone want to sell me your OE bar?
Want to play with an idea....
Slingrazor beat me to it, but if you need another one, I think @KayTwo has his laying around somewhere.

Let me know if you need a third one.
I'll take one when RD figures out something super cool with them that'll save me money!
A little ways out, but I'll be bringing the Sway Bar, Mounts, and End Links to Maggie Valley if you want them.

thanks... Just PMed @Slingrazor
Maybe a 4th. I have one laying around if anyone needs it, and the stock links.
If nothing, he could use all those Sway Bar tubings for a new Hood Mod!!!!!!!!
Are we trading sway bars for a new top, or what?

Maybe I am trying to sway him with two bars.
Just kidding.

im sure you guys already know what I'm going to try. Been wanting to do this for sometime. The bars, if I'm not mistaking, are hollow ( not like the older solid ones). I plan to add one (maybe 2) new holes in the stock unit. If I'm not mistaking one hole drilled 1" toward the tube will net 10% to maybe 14% stiffer stock bar that will cost me $0.00
You guys have been nice enough to allow me to play a little.

Will the thinner walls of the bar cause any stress issue as you increase the stiffness?

thats why I'm getting unwanted bars to test it. This is not a replacement for the aftermarket bars. They are thicker and range from 30-60% stiffer. This mod will only net me maybe %15.
The stock units should be fine with that. Want know until I try. Add polyurethane bushings and for under $25 I have a cheap improvement over the stock setup.

I agree with you and it should work. I will look at mine tomorrow and see how far apart you can drill the holes.
@FunCycle 1" is about perfect for one new hole. If I go just over 1/2" spacing might even get away with 2 new holes but I would worry about the spacing between the holes.
@Slingrazor has been kind enough to send me two to test both ideas. He promised to let me know the shipping cost...
I would go as far as I could and just drill the one hole. I would not bother with trying to drill two holes per side. I also have a spare but you already had enough to do the job.

agree. That will be the one I install and test. I just like to experiment a little.
You should see what I'm think for a muffler replacement.. no were near ready for pics. Got to work it out on paper before I start cutting and welding.

Dude. You're so smart, it hurts my head just thinking about how much smarter you are than me. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Good luck with that one, I could think of a couple good possibles but I quit welding many years ago.

if I were really smart I would have made enough money to not have to think this way. Being cheap is not always fun....
