I know nothing about engines and components so gotta ask here. When I bought my 2017 SLR used, I was told it had cold air intake. I really don't think it does.
Here's a pic. Ignore the K&N filter I just put that in over the weekend.

Technically it is, it's pulling air in away from the engine heat. The only part it doesn't have is an isolation box, the stock setup didn't have that.
It is stock though, not aftermarket.

Kinda, it looks like you have the stock SLR intake with the stock filter replaced by a K&N filter. While idling your intake air temps will creep up as the intake pulls air from under the hood, which becomes warm while sitting still. As you start to move, there is a good amount of air that comes through the opening where the center headlights are located. Once the air starts to come in through that opening your intake temps will get pretty close to ambient.

I'm assuming the isolation box will help lower the air temps that it intakes while idling? Thinking about ordering a box from dmworks if worth it.

I have the same setup on my SLR minus the K&N filter. I am wondering if it would be worth replacing the stock CAI for an aftermarket one?
