Yeah personalized plates take forever I'm still waiting on mine. Florida will blame the hurricane I'm sure. Is that a bar code on the bottom left?

It is. I think it's for the plate scanning technology the police use.

A friend is a "Repo Man" and uses scanning technology to scan plates as they drive down the road looking for cars that are on the 'repo' list....

I know the technology is out there, but that's an unConstitutional use of it. That's no different than walking down the street asking to see their papers for no reason and with no just cause. You know, like they used to do in Germany in the early 40's.
It is linked to a national database that only looks for stolen vehicles, expired registrations and; as Ej pointed out; vehicles up for repo.

Doesn't mean they have the right to scan all of us as they drive by us. That is an invasion of privacy. I will have to look it up again, but I believe there have been lawsuits to that effect, although I admittedly don't know their outcome.
Sorry for starting a conspiracy theory rant. I just hate abuse of power and violations of rights by the bureaucracies. Including my own.

I hear ya brother, but unfortunately our plates are open to the public. I dont agree with everything that goes on, but I just do what I should and don't worry about it....until they come to take my guns.

Got some bad news for ya, bub. In some states, the firearms carry licenses are linked to the license plates. And that I do know for a fact. MD got sued (and I believe NJ did too) for making traffic stops on out-of-state plates linked to private firearms ownership, and searching those vehicles looking for the guns.
Google "legality of license plate scanners." Interesting info. Scary, too.
