  • Stop and Search would help a lot. I don't mind if they were to stop and search me because I am not carrying anything I shouldn't be carrying. If it is ok to have traffic stops to check for DUIs on holidays lets have stops and check for legal guns and get them off the street.

  • If the left gets their way and keep defunding the police we won’t need to conceal our weapons - we are heading back to the old west days to settle disputes…

I'd hope so, but I'd also imagine a lot more getaways, chases, or police being shot at in the moment because those they stopped had illegal weapons.

Eventually it would hopefully work, but it'd be messy getting to that point in my opinion.

Nope. Sorry. Disagree. Fourth amendment… IMHO, DUI checkpoints are illegal. What say ye Bill Martin ?

Supreme Court ruled in 1990 that sobriety checkpoints are constitutional - jurisdictional rules are set by the state and vary from state to state. I think that if a DUI checkpoint is constitutional then a firearm checkpoint could legally work - especially in heavy gun violence areas. Something has to be done to quell this raging violence throughout metropolitan areas in the US!!

Every DUI checkpoint I have ever gone through is a stop, roll down the window, get asked if I have been drinking, shines light in eyes and then lets me pass because I have not had drinks. There is no search involved in that stop. They don't ask to pop the trunk, or search my vehicle.

Are you folks saying a search of my vehicle and person should be legal without a warrant or are you just saying they should stop me and ask if I have any illegal weapons? I can pretty much guarantee you that no one that had an illegal weapon would say they had one...

This whole train of thought seems pretty socialist to me... but again, that is jut me.

When the going gets tough.... Downshift.

I agree that it is a slippery slope but stop and frisk certainly helped Giuliani clean up NYC when gun violence was raging. As I pointed out previously to use this tool in high crime metropolitan areas whereby rules could be set by the jurisdiction. If common sense was used it could be helpful but with Dem ran metropolitan areas it would never happen. Waiting until somebody is already shot before we do anything is doing nothing to stop the soaring murder rate. I do understand that is giving up another piece of freedom but if a 5 minute stop to see if I am legal which may save many lives is a fair trade off IMO.

  • I agree with all of you that say never give up a right but these killings have to be stopped and the anti gun people think taking away our guns is how to do it. I am for any better option that lets us keep our guns but something has to be done.
