The republicans have the house, senate, and the presidency for TWO YEARS and can't seem to get a wall funded. THEN at the last minute Trump says " I will not sign" and in a few hours WALA there is a bill on the floor that passes. In April 2017, Senate Republicans led by Mitch McConnell extended the nuclear option to Supreme Court and the nomination of Neil Gorsuchending the debate."
It would appear, using the "nuclear option" in this case would pretty much make minority votes on a slew of funding and other laws mute. That is why it shouldn't be used.
It isn't a "tool", it is a permanent change in the law.

Wolf - I would tend to agree with you on this but this can of worms was concocted by Harry Reid - what's good for the goose ..... can't put the paste back in the tube. I say use it. OR vote on returning the senate rules back to what they used to be - let's see who votes for that.
Now let's work on the line item veto. That would save us all a ton of $$

If "tit for tat", "goose,gander"is what you like and want. You got it already. If they do this, understand that the Republicans may lose majority in the Senate next round and you will have to eat everything the Dems impose with a smile, because you wanted them to have that power.
I'm all for voting to return things back to 60%. I didn't like it when the Dems did it, nor when the Republicans reciprocated. Leave shit alone, and work together you bunch of Assholes.

There is that pesky common ground thing you mention. I for once agree with you completely - unicorns do fly 
I find it interesting that some here seem to think that if the Republicans keep things at the 60 vote threshold that will somehow insure the democrats do the same thing when it is their turn
Remember with Judges it was the Democrats who went first - - I see no reason to think that when the time comes they wont go first again
If the only thing keeping the republicans from crossing that line is the belief that it will stop the Democrats then they are fools.
