@chad warren, will be anxiously watching this thread to see what you do with this project of love...

Its like working on a emotional time capsule.

After stripping the inside I realized it had a soft top. So I started tearing into the patch panel. I'm going to definitely put a button soft top or a retractable top of some type.
-
I was told by a couple of model A guys depending on how original the car is there could be some lead paint. So mask up if grinding. Of course it's like 98 here today.

I would research which would have a higher resale value
I would bet original but not sure.Looks like it would be a great item to pass down thru the family
I would never sell it. I know parts for a 31 are a dime a dozen. I was told there are more model A,s on the road today then there were on the road from 27 to 31. I just feel I've been passed some legacy project torch. I just want to do things right. I'm going to swap meets and car shows. In the next town over is one of the largest model A clubs in the Midwest. I've been in contact with them all ready.
Hot Rod would bring more money. Leave it like it is and put the Slingshot Ecotec motor and trans in it and drive the hell out of it.

One of the best 'hand me downs' ever.
No matter which way you go with it, once you make up your mind, you're going to love the end result.

So I cut roof panel out and found some rust well more wood rot than rust. I mean I really was expecting some rust and rot so I wasn't surprised. The front visor was completely rusted out and the pieces that it hooks to and the piece underneath that the window swings out on was gone. There was a 1 by 1 that sat in the slot above the window that the window hinges screwed into and allowed the window to swing out. It was white wood and was like paper. I honestly don't know how the window was sit hanging on. I found all replacement pieces on line. I'm going to get roof buttoned up and then work on the next section.

You're really going at it Chad... Keep it up!

I feel good about my first day of tear down. I will try to keep updating its helps alot keep me grounded and let's me step away to post pics and updates. Please lete know what you think. I welcome criticism and opinions I feel it only makes me have a better out look on my progress.

I saw this today and liked the look. Not sure what direction I'm going yet. But the drivers side fenders are pretty rusted out close to the body. I mean I can get a replacement fender but don't know what I'm doing yet. The car has a four cylinder now. I was thinking about getting a flat head that is period correct and hot rodding that out for the time period.

Just My 2 cents, but Keep it original.. People keep telling me to Hot rod this guy....nope... still has an am radio even. You''ll appreciate it more.

I sure hope your new project doesn't take away your free time posting your "travel pics" in the just checking in section of the NSFW listings
