@Painter can help you out
I have the PPG formula. PM me and I'll be happy to give it to you! Cheaper and better by far!

Don't know how good their auto finishes are, but several of their colors look really good to me. Colors - Automotive Finishes - Paints & Coatings and select the general color family you're interested in.

A little pricey compared to PPG for the most part.

This is the custom PPG formula for the Titanium Gray!
-
Thanks a lot, it looks like a foreign language to me but hopefully my painter understands.
-
You are welcome!

hello painter, would you happen to know just the PPG paint number code for the formula. My autobody shop that Im using makes their own paint by mixing it off the paint code.
-
Sorry but there is no code as it is a "special mix' .
1. A PPG jobber should be able to mix it.
2. Or..... you could PM me and I'll give you my PPG Jobber. He can mix and UPS to you.
Just click on my avatar and click on "conversation button" just right of the mail button. -
Sorry guys I just can't read the paint codes. Can anyone help!
-
This is a special mix. Print both pictures and take to the paint jobber. They will see the formula!
-
Thanks painter!
I still don't know if the pics are all readable. I will buy threw your jobber if that's ok.

I just painted a fender with the listed print mixture.
First of all it's too dark. That said I used a spray bomb not an air compressor and a paint gun in an appropriate spray booth. I'm told that with guns the amount of air pressure could change the color, slightly. Something about how it gets laid down and the amount of flake coming out. I can't verify that info.
Second, I had them use the paint code reader on my SS. Don't know it's official name It came up with a slightly different mixture. They even lightened it some. It was still a little too dark.
Third, the metal flake wasn't as big as factory
Now on my fender being that it's not right beside any other painted parts, it doesn't look too bad. A blind man on a galloping horse going 60 MPH at midnight will never see the difference.
I'm not at home right now so I can't post a picture of the lighter formula. But I will later. I post both cans side by side.
You can look at my thread called "spray bombs"

First of all, even factory panels may not match exactly. Many factors come in to play (humidity, temps, pressure, number of coats, etc.)
Metallics must be "flow coated" to get the metallic to the top. (Low pressure mist coat) This makes the metallic look larger even though it is not.
Also, the primer color will affect the shade of paint. One could go to the Polaris body shops and get the paint they use every day, take it home, spray it and it still may not match!
All a Scanner ( "Paint Code Reader" ) does is match closest to colors already on file. Most of my formulas start there and then 'tweaked' and sprayed on test panels to match the factory sample. All I can do is supply the color formulas. How it is applied is out of my hands guys.

Here are the two color formulas side by side....and a sample of the two colors one over the original. the lighter one is in the middle .you can see the flake difference...
The paint sample is on a piece of brown plastic to simulate the SS skin....
