I must like things with over 500lb of torque

  • Just got back from Walmart. Wife is still snoring. I don't think she understands the importance of being at the dealer one hour before they open to pick up the truck.

Most just don't get it, i got a text late last night from my dealer saying they were getting the swingarm in today(WOOT!) and if all goes well the Sling will be rdy to be picked up by noon.

So i told the everyone that our trip Lutsen is being delayed until i pick up the Sling, got the usual response of " why can't you wait until next week"..... I swear i had tear in my eyes until she said fine and roll her eyes.

We had a little snow last night, i am hoping that the i35 is clear....... so if you drive by and see a Sling doing 30MPH on the interstate that is me cause i am taking my time because i am definitely not going to test the grip of the stockers.

Is not that I am mean, I just don't sugarcoat what I say.

If there is snow on the ground please wait to take it home. even at 30mph these things can sometimes look like a dog chasing its tail.
Hate to see you or the sling get hurt

  • Listen to us on this subject. If you even think it might be slick anywhere between point a and point b do not take it.. I will tell you now that the slingshot is a mean curve handling machine on DRY pavement. But "in my opinion" it is just dangerous in water. I know that we have all driven in a downpour and we lived to tell the tale. But we have all probably experienced the ass slide out from under us on wet pavement. If you do get it please take it easy if the road is even damp. Trust me. I have had mine do doughnuts on the 4 lane WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND COASTING AT 35MPH.

  • @rabtech and @Alison that is One Seriously Wicked Battery replacement ! Super nice and very proud for you.
I am so sorry if you feel that I lead you astray by example. Not really! Truly delighted that you have found your "Dream Machine "

I think your Raptor makes my new radiator look old. @MACAWS
Bad door = MOE Money. Better replace her while you can.

  • Yeah, i am heading there mainly to just finish the paperwork in case polaris decides to change their promotions come monday, i think one of the things i am getting right now is a 2500 rebate and would piss me off if they remove it on the 1st and bring back their "free Ext Warranty" instead......

assuming the streets are dry(it was just a light dusting that we had) I will be having a 2 cars escort me (one in front and back) to give me some safe driving room and hopefully avoid any tailgating @$$wipe from driving too close or honking to kingdom come due to slow driving.

as it stand now(without seeing the roads) the most dangerous part is my driveway(concrete/slate with an uphill slant).

I won't take any chances if i35 is wet i won't drive it but if i don't take it home today it might be 1-2 weeks due to work and bad weather forecasted(lol), which would drive me absolutely insane knowing that it is rdy and just sitting at the dealer, specially with packages arriving today and tuesday from amazon, fixmytoys,Slingshotonly,Alpha and DDMtuning(lights place not the engine ppl).
Here in MN jan 1-15 is usually when we get a bad case of -F, usually in the -10 to -20f before windchill.

  • Here is a thought that didn't cross my mind but gf suggested(save the jokes for later...) why not have it towed!

What is the normal clearance of the SS, i imagine that it would not make it up the incline of a normal flatbed without loosing the front bumper.

One of the companies i called says that they have a "low profile" attachment for vehicles that have had their suspension lowered but don't know for sure if it will work for the SS since they have never towed a SS.

Any thoughts against this idea, anything in particular that i should keep an eye out for if i do tow it home(as in something that i should tell the driver in how to secure the SS) or should i just take the chill pill and wait two weeks?

    @rabtech @MACAWS any advise?

    Thanks in advance!

  • You can put it on some roll back wreckers that the bed goes way back and then tilts. And if you are rubbing the front just carry 2 2x6x6 boards and put them down.

Don't let me terrify you of water. I would drive it very slow if it is wet and give yourself alot of distance. Then when you have an empty parking lot sometime and it's wet go play and get used to it. There is really no way to substitute the slick highway for a parking lot but at least you would get to see how easy it is to break the back tire loose fairly safely.

  • Who the hell would take a truck like this and rock crawl with it. Seriously!!! I know some rich kids will but really is this something you would want to scratch the heck out of???

I just want to be comfortable when im on the road and last 3 or 4 trouble free years. And not get stuck on that 10 times a year I need the 4wd to help out...

  • I hear ya mytoy. I am just glad that mine hasn't actually put on some good glasses and saw someone else that has their shit together more than me. And it wouldn't take alot I'm afraid.

That is why I always hide my wife's glasses - she can't see a thing without them.
I am afraid some day she will wake up and see what she got herself into.
I would be living in my truck if it wasn't for her.

  • @MACAWS it doesnt need that mode. I feel like I gained 6" by hitting the start button. At least now I can say it's a positive number....

You enjoy yourself - you earned it.
I am jealous - it is a beautiful truck, So am I correct in guessing the SS will be matching Blue before spring
