I like to run a dash cam when out in the SS, but I have to windshield mount my cam and find the video is extremely bad with the play in the windshield. I am curious what everyone else is using and where you’re mounting them. I have an idea that I want to explore, which I will reveal later if things work out. Consider this my researching phase....
Dash cameras

-
Garmin Virb XE mounted to dash post or roll hoop
-
Gamin Virb - I made a mount for the center post
-
That is one of my issues....I don’t have the ability of a middle support pole on the 17.

@D.W.Slusher, curious what you mean by that?
-
you may not have a support but you can buy one from vendors ..... Aluminum Center Windshield Brace with Wiring Port for the Polaris Slingshot
-
You have quite a few option depending on the camera you use. For both the Garmin and GoPro, they offer various style mounts that can work in not-your-normal mount points (i.e. not just behind and/or around the windscreen). Suggestion: Pick a spot on your sling that you think will be the best placement (mine is on the center post and sits over my screen ~> 2017 SLR as well). Collectively we can come up with something that will work!

You can purchase the center windshield support from Dave at DDM. I am assuming you have the stock ripper windshield.
I have my Garmin Virb mounted on my center windshield support. Mounted it with a Ram Mount. Works great.

I know I've seen it, but I don't remember who sells it.
-
Another spot I found to mount the GOPRO for people without the center brace is the Driver side hoop. I takes an awesome video and the power port above the cup holders can power it while your are driving

You can also buy a 1 inch Ram Ball Mount ( the round ball ) and screw it into the back of the center bracket. It will keep the windshield from flex inward while driving.

I was thinking the hoop would be a great place - almost the same view as you would get as the driver and very strong. If you are willing to drill and tap it you could put a in 1/4 20 stud that would accept almost any tripod ball head
-
^^^ You rang?! (You mentioned ‘stud’ & ‘Tripod ball head’)...
-
Sorry Tripod - I should have been more specific - I was referring to something like this

A small, blank, square box - okay, that clears it up!

The windshield support bracket doesn’t work on the 17 model in that it doesn’t support the windshield. Can still use it, but then it’s only good for mounting stuff to

I’m looking into the possibility of doing a hidden (integrated) camera system, but still in the preliminary phase of it.

If you are looking for a cool place for a forward mounting camera try the center of the lower wing up against the grill
You get a cool perspective. There are also some clamp on mounts that are made to attach Go Pro's that may work on the windshield

I have thought about placing something in that area, but I am looking into a more integrated system that looks like it was a factory option. I have an idea of where/what I want to do and researching a little more into if it will be a one off thing or something that could be marketable.
