Poly bushings are going to give some compliance compared to the spherical bearings, which some people will think gives a better ride. However, with that setup you can not adjust the rate of damping the poly is giving. With a spherical bearing setup all the compliance in the system is being handled by the shock and if it is a good quality shock/spring setup and adjustable, then you can dial in how you want that system to react without the variable of the Poly in the system. Poly is good at absorbing road noise and vibration that the spherical bearings are more prone to transmit into the chassis. For something like the Slingshot, spherical bearings are the way to go. On a regular car that you want to be a little more on the quiet side, but still want an upgrade in performance the poly works well.
I have now taken the SlingShot out on various short sorties over the back roads around town and am getting a feel for dialing the "new" shocks in for quality of ride. These three-way QA1s came with spherical bearings and I was sort of expecting maybe a bit more "chatter" being transmitted from the imperfections in the road, but all I am noticing is the overall better ride of the QA1s?
