Tyson vs Jones

    So, just out of curiosity are any of you planning of watching these old boxers have at it this coming Saturday?


    I would love to watch it, but I have a history with pay per view fights - - whenever I shell out the money for one of these things it is almost always over in one or 2 rounds, on the other hand when I don't it always seems to turn out to be one of those fights that people say was the fight of the year


    considering this I am going to pass on paying for it and hope that in a few weeks I get to watch a great fight between two men showing that old guys can still have what it takes :thumbsup:

    first of all sports is all rigged.....


    the proof is in Las Vegas (lost wages) the bookies are never wrong....mathematically impossible...there is too much money involved.....everything comes down to money....coach gets paid to make stupid call, players get paid to blow a play, refs get paid to blow a call....player gets paid to strike out or drop a ball....miss an extra point....miss a foul shot....the pit crew guy takes a second longer....the cheating is very subtle......not blatantly visible.... hard to prove it wasn’t just an error...

    I will never be convinced otherwise until the bookies start losing....

    When there is a disputed play they make a phone call to....who? It’s not the commissioner... It’s to Vegas and a guy named Vito checks the odds before issuing his decision.....probably the reason they started doing it that way in the first place.....the bookies lost money because of a ref making the wrong decision....so now they can be overridden by Vito....and there is talk now about making more plays disputable....money issue....


    if you want to see a real boxing match instead of the winners and losers getting paid.....pay the winner all the pot and pay the loser $35 cab fair. Paying both boxers big money is like getting a participation award....the value of it is lost...


    so if all sporting events are fixed why the need to watch them? Oh boy my team won....first of all it’s not your team....it’s some millionaires team and you’re paying him and his players millions of dollars...while you live paycheck to paycheck...and they get their money if they win or lose...

    Las Vegas odds makers and bookies are very often wrong - - upsets that cost the big casinos huge amounts are well documented


    yes - in the long run they always make more money than they loose, but that doesnt make them "never wrong" it just means that long term odds are in their favor - its why they are in business


    they don't have to cheat - its simple math and over time the math will always win. and the equation is designed to have room to compensate for the occasional upset - - what they have to pay out when someone beats the odds is more than made up for by all of the other bets where people are not so lucky.


    Don't get me wrong, I don't care for big money professional sports - - pretty much a bunch of overpaid thugs in my view and no doubt all about profits for league and team owners, but I don't believe its even close to being "all rigged" as you say - - - they don't need it to be rigged - - the fans have been well trained and they will gladly give them their money either way


    seriously if it were all rigged the Chargers would have won a Super Bowl by now - - if they ever rigged that to happen they would make a fortune - - - no one would ever see that coming

    I’m sure they can pick their winnings....I’m talking about the mafia. Sure casinos have to pay out once in awhile or nobody would go there...but if they have two guys betting on a game and one is going to win a million and one is going to win $10.....I’m sure the million dollar guy is going to lose even if they have to flip a player or a ref or a coach.....someone is going to get paid off. And they aren’t going to lose a million if they can help it....I’m sure their buddies can win a big bet....for a percentage ....it’s corruption... it’s money laundering...its conspiracy...

    if you are worried about the mafia then why did you belong to a union that was run by them? - - your union dues supported big labor and historically they are one of the biggest mafia enterprises there is

    as far as boxing goes....I’ll get In the ring to lose.... for a million dollars...show me anyone that wouldn’t....every boxer knows how to pull a punch......the best example is studio wrestling....it’s choreographed.....just like a dance routine....you step here I do this...you throw a punch and I’ll duck....then I get you in a head lock and you flip me.....it’s simply too easy to throw any sport.....and it only takes maybe one little phony flub to carry it off...oh I feel so bad missing that catch......but my wallet loves it....

    great idea except for the fact you would need to establish a strong record of successful fights before you would ever be offered the kind of money you are talking about


    back in his prime Tyson could have killed a person with his punching power - - - you really willing to take that kind of blow and hope you dont end up a vegetable for some money?

    I never said I liked them giving my dues money to the democrats.....I considered the union an insurance policy to keep my job, to secure my pension and benefits....necessary evil as far as I was concerned....I hate the leaders of the international....they just told everyone to vote for Biden after trump secured 25% tariffs to save their jobs......that was criminal...and if any union members voted for Biden....they cut their own throat...why?     Sorry to jump in here but it appears one of you doesn't understand how Vegas sports books work. They set odds or spreads to create even betting on both sides of the contest and take a 5% cut of the total. They make their money no matter who wins. If the betting gets lop sided they change the odds or spread to even it back out. They've been doing this a long time, they're really good at it and it's not gambling, it's mathematics. So it's not a million dollar bet vs a ten dollar bet. It's X million on both sides, and they'll pay out X million minus 5% and keep X million. It's absolutely ridiculous, ludicrous, and 15 other less flattering adjectives to think that licensed casinos are manipulating every contest in every of the dozens of sports they cover in order to make money.

    I’m talking about the illegal betting....which is probably way bigger than the casinos...they just launder the money....we know the casinos make a percentage....mafia runs the sports world....not casinos...casinos have state gaming rules to follow....the mafia makes the rules....so when the call is made to Vito about a questionable play he decides who it goes to....
