So who ended up with a set of these little darlings? I have no idea what they're called.
Hood buttons!

Dont know either, but they seem to work well.

Tested to 110 mph and tested behind tractor trailers. An added bonus that I didn't expect was the complete elimination of all the rattling when you hit a bump in the road.

Until you forget to pop them open and then open your hood.

He claims you would have to really try hard to break something. Did you?
-
No. He was gonna send me a set and I was gonna put them closer to the windshield edge of the hood. That is where mine flaps at high speeds. Sometimes I have to stop and make sure the hood is latched cuz it pulls up so much there.

I know it's a mental thing but it makes the whole ride feel more solid to not see the flipping and bumping and flapping all the time.
-
I believe we all ended up with it. @Painter too. I'm just shocked that this wasn't a hot ticket item.
-
How can we get a set of them?

I have no idea. It was the strangest thing. Just a guy named Phil out in the parking lot at the host hotel. I may have his email address somewhere.

It will be the hot thing now. Small guy doing it the only way he could. Exposure here will really go a long way for him. The problem is that it has to be an existing product. Unless he has covered his IP someone will replicate it.
I have seen similar products for hoods but his has some differences that may allow him to do a utility patent exclusively for the Slingshot. Hard to say because of how similar it is to the other product. Didn't catch what he was charging but the Automotive version is around $299 a set.

He charged 150 installed. They're high quality pieces too. The black buttons are anodized aluminum. They're removable and can be painted or powder coated. He also said that they are rated to handle 150 pounds of pull each.

I like them so far. I just have to test mine out this week on my favorite roads around the house. So far they have held up well. And the black buttons and white color of my SS look great together.

It got me thinking about this version AeroCatch Panel Fastener range
Really like the flush version but without my SS can't really look for a hidden spot underneath. More than likely will end up using this idea based off you guys feedback. -

Agree. That's why I want to see if I can make some mounting brackets just behind the outer lights (under the hood). Would need to reach under to latch and unlatch. May be way tooo much work. The flush versions appear to use an epoxy to bond it to the underside of your hood. Not sure I'm a fan of that but they are cool looking.

It's probably doable. I'm happy to provide any pictures of the hood buttons if anyone is interested in digging deeper in to the hardware.
