Finished the clean up under the hood. "DAMN" it looks a lot better

I was wondering if I can put a picture of a 'naked dirty one' on this thread?
-
I have noticed that the black painted surfaces (the frame) is supposed to shine, but all of the flat surfaces actually are like a flat black. This is on the 2016 Sling II. All that I used on them twice was F-11. The 2015 Sling I is still shinny when clean.

On my 'early' 2016 (bought in Sept 2015) the hood sections of black are shinnery the rest not so shinny.

I am talking about the frame rail that is painted gloss black

One thing’s for sure - it’s NOT brake dust…

Spray this on the underside of the hood and use an old paintbrush to move it around and them wipe with a rag -- works great
Cleans anything non metallic - NOT FOR PAINTED SUFACES

FunCycle , could you tell me how you c!eaned under the hood and what you used???
In the past I just used Lucas Speed Wax to wipe down everything. This time I tried the F-11, I think the Lucas works better for this. Now here is something else I have spoke of on here a few time before to make the under side of the hood itself to look good again since it is so hard to clean. Lay you a plastic tarp over the engine area from the wind screen to the head lights. Then take the spray bottle of the Lucas Tire and Trim Shine and just spray the whole under side of the hood and let it drip dry over night. It will look brand new and clean in the morning, it will really surprise you how good it looks. Try It

Well, I guess I should have said how to clean the engine compartment area?
Engine cleaners and wash away with water ?
Don't want to cause damages to any of the sensitive electrical or engine parts?
-
Ga Batcycle be real careful what you spray on and around painted areas, including some spray bottle one step wash that you spray on and then rinse off.. Ask Me how I know that. It was not the Harley brand but it was the other spray wash that is sold in the Harley shops. This stuff "WILL" turn shiny black paint into flat black on your Harley.

Also be very careful using any type de-greaser around powder coat - it will fade color - ask me how I know - took the finish off an epoxy shop floor
I found something called G-Tech it is a biodegradable cleaner de-greaser I have used it on most everything without issues.

I never liked using engine cleaners, you can create too many problems. Back many years ago I would put a plastic bag over the carb on my 57 Chev when at the car wash and spray the engine compartment and engine and never had any problems. This was at the beginning of electronics and before computers.

Okay and Thanks, that was what I was concerned about?
Any recommendations? Just mostly road grime build up is what I'm trying to clean off ??

Hire someone to do it for you…
I would never find the Slingshot.
