No time and can't get the parts fast enough it's an older model and from what I read should be forged from factory and looks completey different from the stock. I looked for what the clues are to tell if it's forged and from the comparison online it looks like it but who knows. Like I said I'll spend that money on the one alphas gonna build for me . No point putting it in this one. This one should make it till they are done I just did the head studs to this one
Boom !!!!very unexpected

Even if it has forged components you will most likely want to change the compression ratio anyway. Best to build a new one and get the most out of that turbo.
I thought the turbo was exciting but putting back on a built motor and pushing up the boost was a whole new experience. -
@MACAWS waiting for the motor didn't expect this so soon so had an old 07 lying around put that in for now till the build is ready just hung up now waiting for a pilot bearing hoping Chevy or gm has one in the morning everything else has gone smoothly. Really don't want a little bearing to hold my trip up really looking forward to lake George. Suppose to have big brake kit installed. So have fingers crossed on that bearing
-
When you tore the engine down what did the inside look like . I am curious as to what you saw.
-
Dang that picture looks way to familiar ! Good luck on getting it going.... I hope you get the needle bearing....
-
@rab didn't even rip the whole thing part yet I'm interested to see what it looks like in there.only took off valve cover and oil pan I'll look in it later on at some point. Could not find the pilot bearing anywhere gm and Chevy said they never go bad so they didn't carry them have a couple in the morning coming. But did some research and found an identical bearing, it's from a 93 ford ranger. So motor rid dressed and ready to like right back in. The shop is a mess with all this rush

Lube .... lots of Lube.
5qts to be exact!

Ran into first issue hopefully only one. Of course new motor came of automatic so clutch bearing can't wait till morning to take a chance on gm having once so last minute trip to part store for new clutch since that's the only option for me. I'll keep you guys posted
Just fyi, if you needed to replace the fly wheel, those bolts are torque to yield, you can't reuse them... -
Thanks about that Newton shitty part is it's coming back out that really sucks Polaris manual says use new bolts my Mitchell program says nothing about it
-
Well simple rule of thumb, if you need to calculate angle to torque de bolt, its dead once you remove it.
-
I know the bolts were installed with a sealant. Wondering if anyone on the forum has reinstalled old ones and if they could let me know if they held up @ rabtech I know you pulled the motor a few times what about thy flywheel ?
-
Well Guess I'm Stuck for the day hopefully bolts can get here tomorrow
-
Now is when all the anger starts to kick in especially when I can't get anything I need from Chevy or gm it's bull. everything is next day
-
I haven't reused my bolts. The new flywheel came with pre locktite bolts that were blue. I can send you my old ones if you think its safe.
-
Got donor sling can't believe my dads gonna save the day for me. Just said forget the old motor since I ran into an issue with the fly wheel bolts. Don't want to wait and can't
-
Sorry didn't finish . Don't want to take the extra chance with this motor just incase it has an issue. So my dads getting a new one which should be here in 3 days and I'll have a lightly used one with 1k on it he barely drives his. I just wished he offered last night would have saved a little headache. But man did dad come to the rescue . Now that's something to see call me crazy but. You guys know how it is when you want something I really couldn't put that eye sore in my sling anyway
-
Oh the emotions running through me it's tough can't believe the old man let me violate his sling to.
-
It's a father love that's why.
