Nothing is what our dealer told us - thus why I paid for the older brackets
I wonder how many iterations of this side panel replacement (per person even) they will tolerate before they revert to the old bracket. Or stop honoring the warranty.

We're assuming only one but who knows - might depend on the day of the week

Well, if it's one per owner, then they might want to start retrofitting with the old brackets. This is such a dumb conversation to even be needed. But thank you to all those who have helped figure it out.
start retrofitting with the old brackets
not to keep beating this subject to death but I figured that they wont retro fit because they replaced them with the junk ones to reduce weight so to retrofit puts them back at a spot they don't want to be
so the old brackets are only $35 each.
Gonna order them before I head in for warranty. That's cheap enough to just buy them rather than do it myself.

Yup - Pure Polaris Parts - you might be able to find cheaper elsewhere - I'll admit that I did not look long or hard
The new & improved bracket are cutting & damaging the plastic on the front edge. Thump the edges down, grind all sharp edges. Place 1/8" self stick rubber over offending brackets, (wrap over edges). Place 1/8" foam rubber in corresponding spot on inside of faring. Reassemble, and you are good to go.
Since Polaris could not bother wrapping my first warrantied faring in anything more than a plastic bag, the end was all chipped. We completed the above mod, and I tried it out for almost 2 months. No damage. New faring came in, and foam put on inside, and installed. Above mod done to passenger side, so some lookie-lou doesn't jack it up. No need to spend $70 on old-style, non-damaging brackets, IMHO

Well, do they want to add a bit of weight (I mean, how much can it be?), or pay $660 plus labor every time their inferior design causes damage?
My fear is that the will pick option 3 .... no to replacing under warranty and call in normal wear
