Got a dbl din kit on order as well as a Pioneer AVHX4800BS with bypass kit and rearview camera for my base model. I noticed there's an open plug with 2 wires to it labelled (BU) in the infotainment cubby hole. Does it by any chance mean "backup" or is it something else..thx

to my knowledge its the power for backup camera . But i could be wrong ... you can search for @WraithSS writeup for backup camera . If you will be following that you wont need to use the stock/factory wire . thanks

That is the backup camera plug. Which bypass kit did you order? If it is the one with the resistor pack and wire leads coming off of it I would advise against it. They have lots of reliability issues. Also most Pioneer units can be bypassed in the GUI. No wiring needed.

This is the bypass kit I ordered..I don't think you can get away without it on the newer Pioneers as they went to a double pulse system. Also, do you know if the BU plug is just power and ground for the camera or the reverse wire? Thx

That is the bypass kit I was referring too. Any AVIC or NEX Pioneer head unit can use the quadrant bypass shown in the following video:

Even the brand new unit like I have. AVIC 8200.
In regards to the plug I think it is a 3 wire plug and not 2. It's video and power on the plug. Reverse trigger is in the factory head unit wiring.
Let me know if you need any help with your install. Happy to help. -
Thx for the info
