2020 R key fob not doing anything

  • so since I brought this thing home, the key fob has never done anything. I called dealer. They gave me a pin to reset the one currently in the command. I reset it but key fob still does nothing. I watched a video how to take it out of accessory mode and still nothing. Anyone have more info?

    Thanks

  • Well if you can start your Sling when you have the fob and not start it when you forget it in the house it is working. Now it is also used to set the alarm but don't count on that happening. I had to have the dealer do a reprograming even when he had given me the pin number. Now if you don't use the alarm for so many days you have to go through the procedure in the users manual. Mine was needed the procedure everyday so just said to heck with it. If your dealer didn't do his part right the procedure in the manual won't work anyway. It is a poor security alarm system but does stop someone starting the Sling with out the fob.

If the music is to loud you are to old.

  • The fob needs to be enabled from the dealer before it can work ... Once that's done, should it ever disconnect (and it does often), just press the start button twice without touching any else (especially the brake) ... Let things boot for a second, turn the sling off and press the unlock. The lights should flash to confirm it's working again

Thanks for the info. It does allow start/stop when its with me and I have noticed the system ask for pin when its not with me so that feature is working but I just cant arm/disarm with the fob. The light on the fob flashes when a button is pressed but nothing ever happens. I am taking to dealer to get a new rear tire so I will ask them at that point if they can reprogram the fob with the security. I just hate leaving it parked in a lot like walmart and feeling unsecure that someone wont jack around with it while Im inside.

A word of warning here. If you hang your fob just inside the garage door at night, then get in and start your Sling without the fob in your pocket because it is close enough to the Sling to start it, then drive to your destination and shut it off, you will be stranded unless you know how to start it with the code.

    Yep, I did that.

Remember folks - this isn't a rehearsal, this is The Show!8)

The dealer gave me the master pin and I was able to change it to one that I know. Starting without fob is never a problem. I know the alarm is really cheesy and doesnt do much but. I usually park it where I can keep an eye on it but when I cant, at least an alarm sounding off will be enough of a deterrent in a crowded lot that would attract attention of other people.

I always park the sling in the back of the parking lot because within itself it tends to attract people! ^^
