Repair scuff on black hood trim
-

Meguiar's 'Quick Detailer' dose a great job on all the black plastic. Some of the waxes will leave a white residue on the black. If this happens use a little Alcohol to clean (won't hurt the plastic or the paint) --- use a soft cloth.

Thank you Ej Ford.
I was going to use fine sandpaper to prepare the small scuff, and then spray paint or use black Sharpie. I wanted to be sure neither of these materials would harm the plastic.
Any thoughts/comments? -
I’m also going to use “Meguiar's 'Quick Detailer'” as per your recommendation.
I just bought some from Amazon.
Thanks again! -

Any thoughts/comments?I would try the cleaning and Meguiar's 'Quick Detailer' first. What year is your Slingshot and is the black trim smooth or the slightly ruff (orange peel) surface. I paint houses not cars or Slingshots but going the sand paper route would be the last thing I would do. Meguiar also makes a 'black magic' that will do wonders on the black.

My 2016 has a 107,000+ miles and has a few scuffs ... but runs like a scarred rabbit being chased by a Fox.

My Slingshot is 2021. The black trim is slightly ruff.
I will get the “black magic” and NOT use the sandpaper. -
Use black liquid shoe polish on the scuff area, and polish the remaining black parts with Lemon Pledge furniture polish.

Don't believe him for a second. There's pics of him all over the internet of him and the foxes hanging out on his Slingshot. EJ would NEVER try to run away from a FOX unless Mrs EJ was with him

Update…
I cleaned the scuff then filled in the scuff with a black Sharpie, waited for it to dry and used black magic.
It worked perfectly!I’ll post a picture tomorrow.
Again, I thank y’all for all your suggestions.

Most time less works out better. Glad it came out good.

I can still see a little bit of the yellow transfer. Next 🧼 I’ll repeat the process and reapply the black Sharpie.

With almost 108,000 miles on my 2016 I have a little road rash. First little bit of road rash was when I bumped a No Parking sign in a Church parking lot in Port Charolette. (Checking on church times for my wife). Also had a Jeep clip me and I tore the whole side of his unit up and I could give you the area where he clipped me and you would have a hard time finding the damage on mine. Little wax and buffing does wonders.

I could’ve sworn I was going to miss that sign! 😂
