A word of warning here. If you hang your fob just inside the garage door at night, then get in and start your Sling without the fob in your pocket because it is close enough to the Sling to start it, then drive to your destination and shut it off, you will be stranded unless you know how to start it with the code.
Yep, I did that.
The dealer gave me the master pin and I was able to change it to one that I know. Starting without fob is never a problem. I know the alarm is really cheesy and doesnt do much but. I usually park it where I can keep an eye on it but when I cant, at least an alarm sounding off will be enough of a deterrent in a crowded lot that would attract attention of other people.

Well if you can start your Sling when you have the fob and not start it when you forget it in the house it is working. Now it is also used to set the alarm but don't count on that happening. I had to have the dealer do a reprograming even when he had given me the pin number. Now if you don't use the alarm for so many days you have to go through the procedure in the users manual. Mine was needed the procedure everyday so just said to heck with it. If your dealer didn't do his part right the procedure in the manual won't work anyway. It is a poor security alarm system but does stop someone starting the Sling with out the fob.
Thanks for the info. It does allow start/stop when its with me and I have noticed the system ask for pin when its not with me so that feature is working but I just cant arm/disarm with the fob. The light on the fob flashes when a button is pressed but nothing ever happens. I am taking to dealer to get a new rear tire so I will ask them at that point if they can reprogram the fob with the security. I just hate leaving it parked in a lot like walmart and feeling unsecure that someone wont jack around with it while Im inside.

so since I brought this thing home, the key fob has never done anything. I called dealer. They gave me a pin to reset the one currently in the command. I reset it but key fob still does nothing. I watched a video how to take it out of accessory mode and still nothing. Anyone have more info?
Thanks

Well all the new bits are on, gotta clean the thing before posting some pics. Living down a dirt road baaah...
Woke up this am to hear of a good friends passing (auto accident on that Hwy 20 late afternoon yesterday), had to do a lil head clearing and I do a lil group thing over in Ukiah as part of Celebration Recovery. If anyone feels inclined to add the Juan Ortega Family to their prayers it would be appreciated.
Now about this route, should you ever find yourself in NorCal, that lil tid bit of road between Highway 29 in Lakeport over to the 101, Hwy 175, is one you will not want to miss. 18 miles of ripitie do dahhhh, mostly 2nd and 3rd gear. Had the pleasure of running this from end to end with no hold ups, a true rarity on this road. I mean really in 32.5 years of running this road, today was like the 5th time it ever happened.
To give you an idea, a typical cage takes about 30mins to run this. Maybe one of these days I'll get a go pro set up and give ya all a sample.
Hug your loved ones and always remind them of that love, you can never say it enough. Even if you think they know it, and possibly slipped into a bit of complacency, say it.
Lor, Im sorry to hear about your friend's passing in an auto accident. I was involved in a head on collision at highway speeds March last year 2021 (not in my sling lol) because some distracted driver thought his phone was more important than the road. I am a miracle story. How I was able to survive that accident baffled the ER doctors walking away with only 3 fractured lumbar. I know it very easily could have ended differently and makes me appreciate how fragile life is. Being a slingshot owner has opened my eyes even further to how car drivers really are ignorant to motorcycle drivers and how selfish car drivers are on the road. It has made me a better car driver. While my dad is in Santa Rosa area, I am in NC so unfortunately I wont be able to ride with you. Cheers my friend and happy riding.
